1)Lose this Sunday 2)Saints end up with the 2nd pick(could realistically happen) 3)We swap picks and get an extra first or 2nd or whatever ...the key here is that NO doesn't need a running back and will draft Matt Leinart no matter what over reggie bush so we would ultamately 1)get reggie bush 2)get extra picks 3)be super bowl contenders in 3 years LOL
1. Why would NO trade up if they know we're taking Bush? 2. If NO *did* trade up, they might just trade their new #1 pick for multiple draft picks and the Texans would be screwed.
yeah why would the saints trade their pick if they already know that we arent going to draft leinart?
So NO trades the #2 pick and other picks to the Texans so they can draft Leinart at #1, even though they know they can draft him at #2? Makes no since.
I really don't know if my logic is worth explaining to you people, but I will anyways..If NO does not know that we would rather...............ah screw it!!!
I think Bush is going to be a great player and all but there's a reason David Carr gets sacked 700 times per season, and if that problem isn't also solved, Bush might look like the second coming of KiJana Carter.
i hear ya. but we have to decide on carr's option before the draft, i believe. when we pick up that option, it will be pretty clear we're not going to use the #1 pick on a QB.
OK. We pick Leinert and then NO drafts Bush and trades him for many picks. I don't see this working very well for us and we'll end up trading Leinert for not as many picks. Perhaps I missed something.
I think his poitn was that NO may do this because there would be many other suitors for that #1 pick. The counter-point, that NO may be just as likely to trade the top pick for a bunch of stuff, is still valid. It may be something you could pull off if we did a deal where we drafted Leinhart, they drafted Bush and we traded and got like an extra 3rd rounder or something, but it would have to be laid out first, and we still need to actually get that pick.
How do they know we're not shopping the pick to someone else who wants Leinart? If we trade the pick to someone else, they get screwed if the team moving to #1 drafts Leinart.
All I can see is doom and embarassment from that scenario. No matter what, you draft Bush. then you decide whether you keep him or trade him for some team's farm.
Yea that problem is Carr just as much as it is the o-line. If Davis has shown that he can produce behind the Texans o-line, what makes you think Bush can't produce too.
True, Bush will thrive behind the Texans' o-line who I beleive are ranked 4th in rushing... he is also an amazing pass blocker which helps Carr just as much as it giving him another option to throw to.
