Yes, please. :( Lots of it!*

*But not right now, I'm on a Biggest Loser diet competition... and I crave anything FATTENING. :(

Damn, that looks amazing. Not even 10AM on the West Coast and I'm already thinking about BBQ. Too bad it's non-existent in the Bay Area. Need to head down to Austin soon.

I'm assuming the stuff on the left is potato salad. What is that on the right?

    cole slaw.

I've had the brisket and pulled pork with the sides. the sides are sides, but the brisket and pulled pork were awesome.

they have a expresso bbq sauce which was addictive.

cole slaw. i hate mayonnaise so generally not a fan, but the website says theirs is vinegar based. looks pretty crisp and tasty in the pic.

EDIT: dang - i used to live like 3 blocks from this place!

Oh, man...I haven't had BBQ in a while. I lived around there (at Red River and 41st) over a year and a half ago. I've since moved to Far West, so it's much further away. I'll give this place a try when I get the chance. Thanks.

In NC that is called BBQ Slaw as distinguished from traditional Cole Slaw.

Rudy's is good but I don't think its the best in Texas. Salt Lick is the best IMO, Iron Works is also pretty good.

    Man that looks freaking good.

I really like Central Texas BBQ in Pearland close to my house.

definitely not the same thing, but get a slow cooker, a nice 3-4 pound pork butt, brown it, place in cooker, and pour this sauce on top. come back 8 hours later, and pull the butt apart with your hands
    (that's what she said!)
serve w/ blue cheese cole slaw....

    pretty damn good.

The best BBQ in Texas is just outside of Austin.

    Kreuz', Lockhart
    Southside Market, Elgin
    Cooper's, Llano
    City Market, Luling

Also, Salt Lick's brisket doesn't do it for me. Not a fan of the sweet BBQ sauce.

This is funny because just a few weeks ago a friend mentioned that Franklin's had the best BBQ he had ever tasted. I didn't think too much of it at the time, but it appears that I may need to check this place out.

Yep, Bert's is still there. It's not bad at all for the price.

I agree that most "great" BBQ resides just outside of Austin.
I would subtract Cooper's from your list (their heyday was in the late '90s, in my opinion). I would add Snow's (Lextigton) and Opie's (Spicewood) to the list. You and I also agree on the Salt Lick's brisket, although I kinda like the mustard-base sauce.

Inside Austin, Mann's is often overlooked, but it's FANTASTIC.

Haven't been to Cooper's in years, so can't attest to the quality. I haven't tried the ones in Spicewood though. Mann's is pretty good, as is Artz Rib House, which wasn't too far from me back when I lived off South Congress.
