Trust me, they care. When the team you work for shows incompetence at almost every opportunity, you would care too. Players are people too. Yes there are some that only care about money. The greats like Hop, J.J., and Deshaun care about winning too and that starts with culture that the Texans clearly dont have.

You can spare me with the they dont care talk.

THEY DON'T CARE. DUDE. DAY TO DAY, THE TEAM HAS NO INTERACTION WITH THE FRONT OFFICE. NFL teams has less interaction with Management than any other sport. NBA and MLB have a lot more. These guy are focused on getting ready for the season or just making the team. They could care less about the GM. Bill O'Brien and RAC are who they care about.

Incompetence? The team went 11-5 last season. Really? They are obviously not the best organization in football, but they are nowhere near the worst. Just because YOU don't like their decision on players, doesn't squat. You don't matter. Only person that matters is Cal McNair. It is up to HIM to make sure the Organization understands where they go forward.....

Fans have a misconception about Pro Athletes. Yes, we like to think they love the places and teams they play for. Or LIVE and DIE by winning or losing. Players are HIRED to perform their service for a NFL team. They are PROFESSIONALS. They will do their job, as long as they get paid for it. Yes, the longer they stay with a team...the more the become part of the city. However, for the part, perception of the team doesn't matter......especially if they are win games. What the Texans' do ON the field matter more to Athletes than Front Office goings on. The sports writers and personalities think they are important to the game.....they are not. What they think about a team, doesn't matter. The media shifts their beliefs based on wins and losses. Perform on the field.....everything else goes away.

Mr. Scarface has now moved into the total jakeland of "General Managers do not matter".

Why does anybody have one? Who knows, ask him!

The Texans have filled a dumpster with trash and are now soaking it in lighter fluid. The only things preventing a fire at this point are watson, hopkins and a few other talented players.

No.....I didn't say GM's don't matter. I said Players don't care about this whole GM situation. People acting like it is the end of the world. It's not. The players have other things to focus on. It is the Coaches that interact with players on a daily basis. The GM does not.

    But there is no GM.

These people "interact with players on a daily basis"

    Coach BOB
    The Positional Coaching Staff

Who interacts with BOB on a daily basis?

    Exec VP Chaplain
There is no GM, I'll just point that out again
    Nobody.

Who holds BOB accountable? Who tells BOB to do something different when he has a bad idea?
    Nobody.

BOB runs this show, and he has for several years, if yall like it then good on ya.

    Gotcha. Misread that.

To me, it looks like the Pats had a legit tampering claim and the Texans weren’t willing to pay the price. Just a complete mismanagement of the entire process.

If there was a legitimate clause in his contract that precluded him from interviewing, this thing would’ve been over the moment they requested the interview.

Something is weird. Why didn't this clause come out last time we requested a caserio interview?

Are we sure this clause exists or are the Texans just saving face because caserio doesn't want to come here?

We still need a GM to pick up free agents throughout the season, watch who gets cut and make potential trades.

Who is going to do that now?

How is any of this "the Texans just saving face"? Either they pursued someone they weren't able to contractually...or they pursued someone who wanted nothing to do with them. Neither of those situations is something that can be looked at positively.

My guess is they think the contract clause thing gets them off the hook. We're not talking about the brightest guys here. It would be more embarrassing if caserio wasn't interested at all

IMO, both situations are equally embarrassing and just show that this organization continues to be a dumpster fire in just about every way.

Ya I’m saying the contract is just an excuse. Pats aren’t pulling this out a week later after going through the trouble of trying to convince Caserio to stay, filing a tampering claim, etc...

Think most of us agreed beforehand that there was some type of tampering done. Guess the question was to what extent and how much evidence the Pats actually had.

Players are professionals, but not robots. It's true of any company - generally, what goes on at the executive level affects the results of the frontline employees. When people don't believe in the future of their company, overall morale and performance suffers. This is not specific to football - it's simply how human nature works.

I think most people would agree that it's almost 100% that they didn't play by the rules and did, in fact, tamper. We all suspected it, and the Patriots didn't just make it up out of nowhere and provide the league no evidence - they likely had some kind of evidence to suggest it.

It will be funny if they go without a GM this year so they can go after this guy after the 2020 draft again, and then BOB really would have another year's worth of excuses. And BOB would get to be in charge of personnel days after saying he didn't want to deal with personnel and just focus on coaching.
