Not too shabby considering 610 said he'd been traded for #1 picks TWICE already. It sounded like THIS time was one of those times The fact he keeps getting traded makes him seem a locker room problem, ala Percy Harvin. Doesn't sound like a 'team player', a BOB player. His career GP is better than what posters have suggested. Is he playing hobbled often? Stats say he did last season.
Makes the Hopkins trade slightly better: Texans get: Brandin Cooks David Johnson Number 40 pick Ship out: Hopkins Number 57 pick
12M next year, 2022 and 2023. What kind of production must he reach to keep him, because this kinda feels like another rental unless he's willing to renegotiate for the T.E.A.M.
I like Cooks. The contract and concussion history scare me, and becauseof that we probably overpaid, but I like him as a player. I’m not nearly as upset about this particular trade as I normally am with the idiotic things that BOB typically does.
If Fuller and Cooks can give Deshaun 12 healthy games, with Cobb in the slot, my God. Almost forgot about Stills. This offense is the ultimate boom or bust but damn the boom potential. This offense is better than it was last year. I don't care who says I'm delusional.
Cooks is very good when he plays. The problem is his injury history and his contract. After getting pilloried for taking on David Johnson's AWFUL contract, you would think BOB learned his lesson. Nope. BOB obviously places very low value on draft picks... which a few years from now is going to really bite us when our team gets old and the cupboard is bare from no good picks. In the NBA, I can see bypassing a 1st rounder, especially if it's late in the round, because you don't want to pay the 1st round contract price. This is why Morey likes the top of the 2nd round. But in the NFL, it's a much lower rookie scale, so the argument doesn't have merit. BOB and the front office are trying to win a 'ship while Watson is on his rookie deal. Once he gets a big contract, the team's biggest advantage, falls away... along with it their championship hopes...
Hopkins is better than cook and you are paying cook a lot of money. David Johnson is a negative asset.
Cardinals have no way out of David Johnson's contract? Why sure we'll take on the entirety of his contract AND give you DeAndre Hopkins! Rams in cap hell? Why sure we'll take on Brandin Cooks for a 2nd! Any other overpaid/declining players Bob can trade for?
https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/texans-find-contract-value-in-brandin-cooks-trade-with-the-rams “The Texans are on the hook for $8 million base salary in 2020 with no guaranteed money due. Cooks has no guaranteed money left in the final three years of his contract leaving the Texans in control of his future with the team.”
Yea but in a draft that is loaded with wr depth the contracts are a lot better and wrs are younger and usually without big injury issues
I don't understand this. You trade for David Johnson who is injury prone and has a big contract You trade for Cooks and give up that 2nd you received from Hopkin and Cook is more injury prone and has a bigger contract. Who cares if you can get out of Cook's contract, you gave up a 2nd round pick for him and you had to take on David Johnson!!! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!
