So annoying. Better to be versatile than good. I hope they sign a solid veteran like Josh Sitton. I want to have at least one sure thing at guard to be "solid"
Doesnh't mean to much from there perspective - When you have in I believe will become a elite QB like Watson - he will be servicable for us. I like the move
Ahh hard to say. That’s like XSF signing and other teams saying our opinion doesn’t matter. Time will tell. I’m not jumping up and down for this signing. Another guy who’s an unknown.
It is annoying especially because that's what he sees the Patriots do. This is the part of "alignment" b.o.b talked about. Rick Smith was used to Kubiak knowing and trusting the 'system' to pick out the stellar lineman for the zone scheme. A week to week offense is not a system, it's having uggs aka #12 avocado ice cream under center. I hope it works out. A lot more zone when Watson was free of injury so that gives me hope.
That's not entirely fair, according to PFF (for what it's worth) Fulton's rating is nearly twice as high as XSF's. Suggesting they are of anywhere near similar quality is nonsense.
Used XSF this an example. CLearly he shouldn’t be in the NFL. Twice as high probably means Fulton is below average. Edit: just checked and yes he is according to PFF. A below average center.
PFF graded him pretty high as a guard though, which is what he's playing for us (although he played mostly Center). 2017 stats (via Pro Football Focus) Zach Fulton 846 snaps — 634 at center, 150 at left guard, 62 at right guard 12 pressures allowed — one hit, 11 hurries
http://www.espn.com/blog/houston-te...8-free-agency-zach-fulton-an-upgrade-at-guard Zach Fulton, G The Texans intend to sign Fulton, who played the past four years for the Kansas City Chiefs. Here’s a closer look at the signing: Grade: A. The Texans desperately needed an upgrade at guard in 2018 and they have that in Fulton. The former Chiefs lineman was Pro Football Focus’ 14th-ranked guard in 2017. By comparison, for the Texans last season, left guard Xavier Su’a-Filo ranked 75th and right guard Jeff Allen ranked 69th. What it means: The Texans have to do a better job protecting quarterback Deshaun Watson next season, and Fulton joins former Buffalo Bills tackle Seantrel Henderson as a step toward doing that. Fulton will likely replace Su’a-Filo, who struggled last season in Houston and is an unrestricted free agent. Last season, the Texans' offensive line allowed the second-most sacks in the NFL. After Houston traded starting left tackle Duane Brown in Week 9, the line allowed 28 sacks, which was tied for most in the NFL in that span, according to ESPN Stats & Information. What’s the risk: Fulton is not an injury risk, as he has missed only one game in his four-year NFL career. The lineman’s versatility makes him an attractive signing. The Texans have their starting center in Nick Martin, but the third-year player is coming off ankle surgery. Martin is expected to be back for the regular season, but adding Fulton is good insurance at center as well.
