    He was on my Redskins pre season roster. About the same as John Beck, with less upside. He is just leinhart insurance anyway

    Biggest part of this story isn't the Clemens signing.....it's that Schaub is officially on IR.

    I guess that puts to rest any thoughts of him coming back for the playoffs. :(

    Eh, he's just there in case Leinart goes down, and TJ Yates sucks. If all that happens, the Texans can kiss their chances of a playoff run goodbye anyways.

    Also, remember when you predicted that the Redskins were gonna win the NFC East? Lol to that too. Seriously though, when is somebody gonna tell Mike Shanahan that John Elway isn't walking through that door? He needs to figure out his offense/quarterback situation in a HURRY, otherwise I don't think Snyder keeps him around much longer. Benching Grossman was one of the most asinine moves ever, especially since they were 3-1 with him.

    Cause he is horrible. He doesn't know the offense, can't learn it in a few weeks, and he's owed $1.9 mill for 6 games. Leinart is going to surprise a lot of people, and we'll be just fine.

    Everything that Makman said, plus Orton's agent is probably asking that teams let him go to the Bears for the opportunity to start and show that he still has some ability left. The Texans don't want to pay close to $2m for a backup.

    Hopefully, we can take this as a strong vote of confidence from the staff regarding Leinart in Yates. It sucks for us, but we haven't seen the practices. Sunday the truth comes out about what we've got. Even more than Leinart, I'm interested to find out what level they've got Yates at.

    This is going to be an intense operation (Reduction & Fixation).

    This isn't a "clean" fix like you have in common bone breaks, it's not a 6-8 week issue, it's a possibility that Matt will have (minor) issues with the foot for the rest of his life.

    Most likely, it'll be mid-summer before he's really able to get on the field again, assuming they get the surgery done in the next couple of weeks.

    1. Getting Orton has nothing to do with Leinart. Because Orton will be BACKUP to Leinart.
    2. Whatever money he's owed will only count for this season. Who are the Texans going to spend that money on if not Orton?
    3. He can't be more horrible than Yates
    4. Leinart is not a sure thing. And I'm including both his play on the field and his ability to stay healthy.
    5. To reiterate, Orton is not going to compete with Leinart for a starting job. Signing him would be about having least have a chance, even a miniscule one, of winning playoff games should Leinart either suck or get hurt. Something that Yates does not provide.

    FWIW, I don't really care either way. Because I'm fairly pessimistic about the Texans chances in the playoffs regardless of who's QB. But I don't see any reason not to claim Orton beyond the usual Kubiak's "we got to go battle with what we got" attitude.
