I could easily see Ryan's getting cut if he can't take a paycut

How Eric was released ahead of them blows my mind. This is a DANGEROUS move.

    I'm stunned.

He is going to get picked up as soon as the clock strikes midnight.

Dangerous, sure, but like I said in the thread, Charlie P confirmed the Texans are over the cap right now. They had to make cuts just to get under the cap with the team under contract right now, let alone if they want to sign draft picks.

I'm genuinely disappointed about this. Not typical fan rage knee-jerk stuff, but actually honestly sad about it. He was a great guy, I wanted him to retire a Texan if possible. I guess 5.5 million was a little more than he was worth, but out-right cutting him? Damn. And who is going to start in his place? Derek Newton? ...Who?

Messing with the O-line is a pretty shocking move. Lets hope the Texans' plan works out and they don't regret this move.

This is truly surprising, but this is the cost of doing business. From what I've heard/read, Derek Newton has the tools to become a starter in the league, so maybe the Texans have seen enough in him to have confidence. While Winston didn't have a stellar year last year, his work ethic is fantastic, and he has a great personality.....he's going to get a hell of an offer from another team. Best of luck to him!

Yeah, this one definitely stings, but honestly if they are doing this in order to bring back Myers and Mario, then I am all for it. Cut Jacoby, cut Leinart, cut Ryans. Hell, cut Kareem Jackson. But bring back your studs. Mario Williams is one of the best defensive players in the league. With him, this defense is ridiculous. Bring him back.

This comes with having a good team...You can't keep everybody.

Still shocking but I'm sure Jacoby isnt too far behind.

I wouldn't be shocked if Jacoby, Leinart and Demeco are next to go. Too bad about Winston.. he seemed like a good guy :(

This is ridiculous. Cut Jones or Demeco ( I know, I know but he has lost a huge step with this achilles injury). Why **** with the best O-line in the league?? Unless something else is coming, this is stupid.

Wondering if we are after Manning or trying to get Mario back

    OR

Targeting Mike Wallace to go along side of AJ... That would make Winston expandable with the deep threat every play.. So many questions..

Next man up carrying over into the offseason. Rashad Butler, next man up!

    . . . .

Well, I guess I can't be surprised by who else gets cut from here on out. Tough choices, tough decisions.

Winston struggled a bit last year, but damn. There goes my dream of keeping the o-line together. :(

If Jacoby isn't cut after this move then I'm going to be pissed.

But why would you start with your RT when this ZBS is so difficult to develop guys for?

There are plenty of guys that are far more replaceable:
    Jacoby
    Leinart
    Ryans

    And then there's restructuring.

Maybe there was no way around it, but if we keep Jacoby, I'll be mad.

I'm actually fine with this move. Butler is a very capable replacement, and after studying the draft pool, Rick Smith might've determined depth on the offensive line is attainable and he can replace Winston/ Briesel that one.

Although he had a tough season last year, this does kinda suck. He's gonna prob become the top paid RT in the league now, and I think this all but confirms Chris Meyers being resigned, IMO Meyers > Winston. Hopefully Jacoby is next.
