4 QB's and a winning record. Pretty commendable job by Bill O'Brien in his 1st year as head coach. I would imagine more roster overhaul has B'OB molds the team into what he wants
AJ80 and Cushing cut? Who knows. We have a a lot of salary cap issues that need to be cleaned up. And for the love of god I hope Rick Smith is gone.
I don't think we should bother drafting a QB unless we somehow land Mariota/Winston. We need better linebacker play, a new safety, a replacement for JJo, a replacement for Chris Myers, and someone to take Andre's spot if he is cut.
Hopefully Dre takes a pay cut and stays. He's a Houston icon. Reed, Cush,Martin, posey, Kareem, and probably J-Jo are gone imo
9 wins, 7th place in the conference, overall a good season considering last year and this year's QB play and injuries. The home losses to the Colts, Eagles, and Bengals did us in mathematically. Can't lose 3 homes games. Ultimately the lack of consistent QB play was the biggest issue overall for a team that has good talent. Oh well, the Eagles just went 10-6 and missed the playoffs just like the Cardinals last year so it could be worse LOL. The Mallet question needs to be answered ASAP. IMHO Mallet with Fitz as a backup is a decent QB scenario. I would like to keep AJ80 as a leader and he can still produce even if just a possession type receiver now. Cush though should probably be cut. Just didn't produce this year.
IMO, our needs for next year... QB...I've heard they want to re-sign Mallet. Don't be surprised if all 4 of Mallet, Fitz, Keenum, and Savage will be in camp next year. Not sure, with the draft position, how they can improve on this barring a major trade. ILB...possibly 2...Cushing might come back stronger but they can't overlook how much of a non-factor he was this year. KR/PR...not a huge need but it would be nice to have an actual threat. A TE that fits BOB's scheme better. There's a lot to build on for next season.
One of these days the QB position has to be addressed. Maybe Mallett? Maybe a new guy? But it has to be addressed. So many seasons with great pieces around him but the QB underwhelms.
Nailed it. Team is lacking a FS and an ILB. Use free agency to get a WR. Texans will need one if Andre isn't retained.
mallet with a no benchpress clause/fitzmagic/case while savage being sent to hand off squad. draft DT/ILB/RB/Db resign KJ, maybe nutty prof likes joseph after a paycut. but bouyer is ready. free agency acquisitions, KR/PR and get wes welker for a couple of kentucky derby tickets. mr. mcnair can make that happen.
I want absolutely no part of Winston or Mariota, I don't think either guy will amount to anything. I fine with trying Mallet again next season.
Winston is going to be good. He plays well in big games. He doesn't let the outside world get to him. Saying that, he is Josh Gordon in QB form. Just waiting for him to do something stupid.
