I'm also not completely against giving Davenport a shot. He showed flashes in pass protection, if he can improve his run blocking I think he can be something

With Solder gone, Patriots are going to probably lock him up. Don't want to lose both tackles in the same offseason. Except you're the Texans then you can probably replace the whole line.

Relax guys, we still have Chris Clark, right?!

Honestly, with the way Deshaun can scramble, they might have to focus on fortifying the inside OL positions to keep pressure from getting in his face/at his legs so he can step up in the pocket as they try and shore up the OT positions. We see it a lot with Brady, pressure off the edge isn't nearly as bad as pressure in your face. If he can step up and either keep the downfield play alive or break contain and pick up some easy yards, that might be the best short term plan for the 2018 season. They might have the ammo to move up next year if a LT is there (their own first and second along with Seattle's second).

    Just couldn't disagree more.

I'm glad they didn't compound the foolishness of the Brown situation by making an average player the highest paid lineman ever.

    Yes, I agree.

They need to have good guards.

Like I said after Watson got hurt and we knew we'd be screwed in the draft:

Let's just keep Watson out for half the season to be safe and tank enough to rebuild in 2019. Develop a young O-Line around Watson and kill it next season.

Basically tank and regroup for next season. Have a 100% healthy Watson, Watt and Mercilus and go all in next season with quality picks at OL. That way you don't play for a mediocre wildcard exit.

I wanted Solder around the time brown didn't report to preseason. too bad the emphasis on the most important position to any quarterback let alone a holy phenom one isn't there. Maybe trade a 4th rounder and a 5th rounder for joe thomas, while we trade to move up in the draft using seattle's pick and get the future left tackle there. They still need a year or two to develop. Can't ignore the position even if Duane accelerated the need for one.

If we can somehow pull in E.J. Gaines or another starting caliber DB, I'd be up for trading up if a OT they like slips some.

I wanted Solder as the best available LT and the obvious need, but making him the highest paid LT in the game is nuts.

Didn’t take long for you to get the Rick Smith apology train back on the tracks.
