I have a very good friend who competed for Karolyi many years ago. To this day, she turns off the TV or changes the channel whenever he comes on. Many of the things she has said about Karolyi mirror allegations in the article. I wouldn't be surprised if she had "experience" with Nassar as well, given some vague comments she has made.

I saw the judges rant, and I agree. Someone commented on the post that it might be the thing that opens up the need for appeal/mistrial - IE - she didn't look unbiased.

Hopefully not the case, but I don't feel like it was an appropriate speech to give, especially the "I just signed your death warrant" part. She didn't sound impartial.

 

From what I understand, since she accepted his plea deal and this was just the sentencing portion - that rules out any appeals. We have lawyers on here though that might have a better understanding of the rules though.

 

I don't think the judge's behavior is all that atypical for a sentencing hearing. Having said that, I don't practice criminal law.

The USOC pretty much demanded a total housecleaning.

Also, Michigan State is looking like a combination of Penn State and Baylor, the more I hear about it.

You're telling me not one of them reported this to their parents or specifically their fathers? Not a single dad of them came for Nassar at any point previously?

You telling me parents here on CF or anywhere would here their little girl tell them some f*****g doctor with USA gymnastics was doing crap to them and you/me wouldn't go investigate and pull up on them (as Trev Ariza would say). Beat the crap out of him at his offfice. I'd take the battery charge with no hesitation. Hopefully it would have led to more kids telling their story and parents acting against Nassar before he went too far.

I didn't get a good look at Nassar as he was taken to court and back but if he didn't need a bulletproof vest then something is wrong. How a father can hear that P.O.S did that stuff and doesn't go ballistic...wow. Some dads must peace, understanding and serenity that surpasses them all.
