I've read where Morey wants to get a third superstar but in all honesty I doubt this will make the Rockets title contenders. Right now we have a solid, but not great center in Howard and a great SG in Harden. Aside from that we have a slightly above average SF in Parsons and a decent PF in Jones, and that's it. PG was a weakness last year and continues to be a problem. I love Beverly tenacity on defense but he's not much of a scoring threat. We've seen glimpses of scoring from Jones and Parsons but nothing consistent. Meanwhile, the bench consisted of 3 guys tonight (Lin, Asik, and Garcia) scoring 13 points and playing very little defense. We have almost no scoring threats from the outside other than Harden and occasionally Parsons.

On the other hand, Portland has one of the quickest PG's in the league, perhaps the best PF in the NBA LaMarcus Aldridge and a number of guys that can fill it up from the outside. If you double down on LA then you leave guys like Matthews, Batum, and Wright open for the 3, and that's basically the back breaker right now.

It's not like we're getting blown out, we just don't have the team depth the win. Hopefully Morey decides to address this issue during the off season instead of overpaying for another star like Melo. Also, sometimes it comes down to match-ups and right now we don't have anyone that can guard LA. At this point it might be worth giving D-Mo a look since he has quicker feet than Asik and has a better offensive game as well. In fact, it might make since to make LA play some D on the perimeter so he isn't so fresh in the 4th quarter. Just my two cents...
