So here we are +/- 3 months since LaVar Ball has bursted into the scene as a basketball nostradamous,
spreading the word about his boy's making to the NBA and basically putting the league on notice.

    Now please take in consideration that over here in Europe we don't really get the NCAA let alone any footage of his youngest two boys and their respective level of competition. But here's my assesment thusfar [bear with me thru this];

Lonzo Ball; From what I've seen is a very capable young man who does alot very well and has the tools to be a long time player in this league. Now If he'll be the allstar is still up for grabs to me, but he'll be a very nice player to have for any team in the NBA.

LiAngelo Ball; Next up is LiAngelo, who to me seems like the only ball brother who doesnt play the 1-guard position for some reason? Don't know if this is accurate but he seems to play more of a physical brand than the other two. This being said, I also think he is capable of having a long NBA career as a role player on a bunch of great teams.

LaMelo Ball; bursted onto the scene when he had that huge game were he scored 92 pts in a game, while stellar I'd like you to remember that it's only highschool and Dajuan Wagner once scored a 100 in highschool. So he has quite a long ride ahead of him, eventhough his future is really bright aswell.

    And then...

There's LaVar Ball, the one person who seemingly has this entire plan on how to market his kids and their future. Which kind of makes me sad, now I'm really happy that it doesnt affect his kids, because multiple times they've come out that they support their dad, just like he supports them.

My problem purely lies with that he seems out of control, compares everything to himself and or his kids and doesnt seem to have a single interest in talking actual facts or "basketball".

So when he came out to say that his boy Lonzo, was going to be better than Stephen Curry ofcourse the channel that has been on the Curry bandwagon ESPN, putting and hyping Steph into various lists such as the top 7 of all time. Was going to pay attention to what this man was saying.

And after they invited him into the studio it felt like they had after all these years found a personality to counter TNT's Charles Barkley, an outspoken guys who's not afraid to say what he thinks and brings a little bit of comedical relieve at times. Because after LaVar went first on, every ESPN show talked about what a likeable guy he was, all the while crediting how much he believed in his boy and how true his word must be because he works him out every day.

But loose a loose cannon is. what a loose cannon does.

So after gaining ESPN's full support after going at Barkley, they quickly turned on LaVar when he went after network sweetheart LeBron James. I mean the yucks started to come when he went after MJ but somehow LeBron and his kids were off limits on all the shows of ESPN.

And now even though this doesn't hurt his boy directly I feel like he does consider himself to be part of this new brand they're trying to establish. Which leads to my question.

Is the entire Ball-hype getting to big for LaVar and his kids to handle?

Because his kids are going to be good or even great players one day.
But if he's not going to be there to steer them, I hope they're not going to get lost in translation.

That's about it. Sorry for the long post.

Lonzo Ball is the only one likely to be an NBA player.

Twenty years ago Ball would not be physical enough or good enough one on one to be an NBA player. However he is a perfect fit in the current NBA.

He at worst goes #2 in the draft and with his size, passing and rebounding; I think he ends up going #1. He is capable of playing three positions in the NBA.

Who cares about his father, his fat ass won't be guarding Harden or Westbrook.

Same here. I ain't getting paid to read that.

I don't know what OP said because I wasn't going to read it, but my thoughts:

Daddy Ball is a mad genius. He's the Steven A Smith of Crazy. Who was talking about the Ball kids before his Dad said the Kids were better than Curry?

Now everyone is talking about him and their kids. He's making everyone think, "maybe he's right, he should be #1 pick overall. He's Jason Kidd except he can shoot"

And Daddy Ball is so crazy, he's on every talk show now. Guess, Steven A Smith and Charles Barkley are making a great living doing what???

    TALKING CRAZY!

Who is our President??? Another guy that talks.....say it with me CRAZY!!!

    Crazy talker = Mad genius.

    Daddy Ball is marketing genius

Lonzo reminds of me a young Jason Kidd, except he can shoot, which Kidd couldn't do until he developed a 3 point shot much later in his career

LiAngelo Ball is not an NBA player. 3 star recruit and 40th at his position. Only going to UCLA as part of the package deal to get Lonzo. Like the dorky fraternity legacy. They didn't want him, but they had to take him.

LaVar ball is obnoxious, but his Trump-ian marketing strategy is probably working. I'm sure there's some idiots out there paying $50-$100 (yes, you read that right) for his hats and $60+ (yep) for his t-shirts.

You know, I am mixed on this, the dad and family has made major sacrifices in life to get these boys to where they are, and they seem to all be in on building that Big Baller Brand - how is that different than what the NBA does, or NCAA - shouldn't the family be able to take advantage of the same things?

I know he is a blow hard, but his kids are good, I think the 3rd will be the best, the 1st is 2nd and the 2nd is meh...but to have 3 kids make it in the NBA, that is amazing, and clearly they worked hard at it as a family, so they should reap the rewards.

This is like what is happening at the AAU level though to the Nth degree, I see it is a paradigm shift .....though it has happened before, Earl Wood, the Williams Sisters father and mother.

So, one thing it is.......is interesting.

The father is certifiably crazy. A loony. But you know what? He might jut be a mad genius. As said before, he's on all the talk shows and the family is being spoken about A LOT.
As how good his kids actually will be? Time will tell.

Can they please, for the love of our ears, change their names?? Sounds like freaking pornstars...that father is on the level of Michael Jackson's father or worse.

I actually like Lonzo Ball. He should be a successful NBA player. Whether he will be a superstar depends on a lot of things we don't know now.

His father's antics, to me, is the sad part of the story. It makes a lot of haters because of that. The Trump comparison is apt. Lonzo is actually a low key kind of guy who lets his game speak for itself.

$50 for a BBB t-shirt? No, thank you. I can get 2 pairs of Starbury shoes for less than that.
