Thanks Bush. Thanks Obama. I thought we had a democracy here. How low can it go before one of the politicos has the balls to withdraw? Fu** the military industrial complex or whatever the reason is. ************* CNN Poll: Afghanistan war arguably most unpopular in U.S. history politicalmugshot Posted by CNN Political Unit Washington (CNN) – Support for the war in Afghanistan has dipped below 20%, according to a new national poll, making the country's longest military conflict arguably its most unpopular one as well. The CNN/ORC International survey released Monday also indicates that a majority of Americans would like to see U.S. troops pull out of Afghanistan before the December 2014 deadline. Just 17% of those questioned say they support the 12-year-long war, down from 52% in December 2008. Opposition to the conflict now stands at 82%, up from 46% five years ago. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...fghanistan-war-most-unpopular-in-u-s-history/
Although at this point I am part of the other 83%, I -- and more than likely most of the posters here -- am 100% in support of our troops.
Hey, most of them are fine folks. Too bad they frequently do so much evil and are misused by being sent to do so.

Didn't bin Laden conceive up 9/11 so that we'd invade Afghanistan and engage in a Soviet Era boondoggle? Obama's worse.
What sucks in the politics of war is that it's all fine if you want to deal with the repercussions of sending everyone home, but damn it, when most get sent home, and everyone left is working 7 days a week, 15 hours a day, and some are deployed over 12 months doing the same job when you had two or three times the workforce before....it just sucks more. Send everyone home or keep sufficient people there.
I'm not quite so sure he did 9/11 for that purpose, but when he saw our response he knew how to play us and talked about the way in which we would outspend ourselves sending drones and heavy equipment and troops that cost about $1 miilion per person per year in the field chasing local guys running around in scandals.
Declare victory over Bin Laden and the remnants of Al Qaeda. Bring all the troops home. Send a diplomatic mission to the Afghans who will undoubtedly include the Taliban who will probably dominate as after all they are from the largest ethnic group. Treat them with respect, despite their relatively ignorant fundamentalism. Give them some aid to help rebuild after our tremendous destruction. Buy their minerals at market rates. Perhaps give them some anti-drug money as they have shown that they can actually stop the growing of heroin. Their methods of doing so are brutal, but we support others employing such methods for various interests favored by our .1%. Things will slowly get better I think both sides have learned a lesson. The Taliban should not harbor folks who attack us. We often times cannot defeat distant insurgent populations with small "volunteer" armies and high tech weapons.
