So, I'm off today, and trying to surprise my wife by installing the water line to the fridge before she gets home. Its been far too long that we've had the fridge with no water or ice (bought it over a year ago). I decided to bite the bullet today on my day off and install it. No leaks anywhere. Everything is hooked up and good. I can hear water flowing in the pipes. Question is, how long should it take for me to get water out of the door? I've held the dispenser down for probably ten minutes, and nothing. I realize the ice may take a day or two to build, but shouldn't the water just flow right through? I just want to make sure I'm not doing anything stupid or overlooking something small. It's a Samsung side by side fridge/freezer, by the way. Sorry for the noon question. Thanks for any help.
Water should run almost immediately. Pull the fridge back out and make sure you didn't kink the line and that you turned the valve on at the back of the fridge. We had this exact same problem when we got our new fridge installed.
Is the water line turned on and with no kinks? Have you checked to make sure the filter is installed correctly? Air in the line? Hold the dispenser thing down for a few minutes to clear out any air.
Tube of the filter? The filter is the original from when we bought the fridge. Could that be it? Edit: O ring is good. There's definitely water flowing through the filter as I get water on the floor when I take the filter out, like I assume I should.
After reading more, it seems there may be a reservoir. I walked away for lunch. I'll revisit to avoid frustration.

Don't f up this job. My incredibly expensive refrigerator's water line leaked water on my incredibly expensive hardwood floor causing incredibly expensive damage.
Part of me wonders if it's a defect in the fridge. I had a service guy out twice when we first bought the fridge. He basically did nothing for me. Reason I had him out is because the thermostats in the freezer doesn't work, and neither do the freezer lights. The water dispenser is...you guessed it...on the freezer door. I shouldn't have waited for this project till it was out of warranty. Stupid move on my part. Edit: The first ice cubes have started to form.
frozen line inside the door? happens to mine frequently. you could d/c the fridge and let the freezer side defrost for hour or two to find out it's so ghetto...i've placed a wire into the water dispenser about 4-5 inches in and everytime it stops dispensing i yank it out to dislodge the ice. so i know it's right there inside the door few inches back from the exit
If you have Cubes then it is an issue between the dispenser and the filter. Could be frozen as was already stated or it could be a bad pump or an electrical issue in the dispenser.
Yeah, you mentioned that the thermostat in the freezer doesn't work. So it could be that it never shuts off and is causing the line to freeze.
That's what I'm thinking. What's the best way to defrost it? Edit: trying weed eater string seeing if it'll freeze.
You have you have to disconnect the latch hasp from the auxiliary drainage line. Is your fridge a Clarkman?
Samsung. Not sure I get the reference? Now, I'm leaning towards maybe its not a frozen line. What gives?
