If you shoot yourself in the head, you better hope you die.

Quality of life after a bullet to the dome does not sound fun.

Sounds fishy, especially given the news we're hearing about HPD's gentle handling of cuffed suspects recently.

Cops have been getting a lot of heat recently for shooting unarmed people. They have just found a new way to get around that.

This really does sound fishy. The cop should have frisked the kid before placing him in the car. How in the world does the kid shoot himself in the back of a cop car when he shouldn't have had a gun on him?

Was it a suicide attempt or accident?

"The student was searched before being place in the squad care" Guess they forgot to check inside the kid's pants or something. Can't think of anywhere he could have hidden it that they wouldn't check. Or maybe they thought he was just "gifted"

Why would the police put a guy in a cop car (assuming not in handcuffs) after they just arrested him with a gun? I am only assuming he didn't have handcuffs on because it is pretty damn hard to shoot yourself in the head.

This is bogus/fishy to me... "authorities say the student somehow retrieved a weapon and shot himself in the head"

I graduated from North Shore. Not sure why there's an outbreak of all these incidents recently. A few months ago, huge riot breaks out between students, and I think a year or 2 ago, the assistant principal was arrested for dealing crack and hanging out with a prostitute.

What's going on? Security should pick up.

I don't want to make this a D&D thread, but I can't help to think of any culture changes or trends that may explain recent erratic behavior in the area.

Isn't SOP is to handcuff the individual before placing him/her inside a squad car? That would have prevented this from happening

I think it depends on the charge
a gun charge would seem to indicate it would be SOP for it

i'm 2009. i've noticed more happening in the area since 2009 than when I was there.

the area seems nicer with all the urban development, but it's a downer to read of all these things happening.

there's a stigma to a lot of people that north shore is a ghetto-heavy area, and it sucks that these things just continue to feed into the stereotype.
