Rudy appears to be a dumb lawyer. He talks WAY too much and breaks cardinal rules of lawyers like never guess facts, never answer more than the question asked, etc.

Yeah. I question how great an attorney he really is, but he is exceptional with playing the press and keeping the story in the limelight. Further, it has done wonders for Stormy Weather's career.... she is not touring and dancing all over the countries strip clubs for a large fee.
He was never the great prosecutor he was made out to be. He was persuaded to use the RICO law to go after organized crime and it worked well. He gets credit for it, but he was never a great lawyer or prosecutor. He was very good at representing the DA's office in soundbites and interviews. Further, there have been whispers that Rudy isn't as sharp as he has been in the past.
