Just my humble opinion (I'm not an expert like some of you guys) on our current roster:

    They'll be back:
    Hakeem
    Stevie Franchise
    Cutino Mobley
    Shandon Anderson
Bullard (I know, but management loves him)
    Cato (could be trade bait)
    Collier

    Probably gone (traded or released):
    Massenburg
    Drew
    Walt Williams

    Bubble players or trade bait:
    Carlos Rogers
    Norris
    Kenny Thomas
    Langini

    Just MHO. Fire away!

Just because you're white and play basketball doesn't mean you're a Matt Bullard clone, despite idiotic accusations to the contrary.

    Staying:

    Olajuwon
    Cato
    Collier
    Bullard
    Williams
    Anderson
    Mobley
    Francis
    Norris

    Probably Staying:

    Masseburg
    Thomas

    Traded:

    Drew

    IR:

Miller (may get cut and re-signed when Olajuwon gets injured)
    Rogers
    Langhi

Drew may take others down with him when he's traded. But really, I don't expect this roster is going to change much.

Achebe -- Why do you call him Massengill? Because he's disposable?

    1. Francis, Moochie
    2. Shandon, Cuttino
    3. Walt, Langhi, (Shandon/Cuttino)
    4. Kenny T, Collier, Carlos
    5. Hakeem, Cato, Massenburg

Find a place for Drew. I like the kid but he seems out of style.

oops. Freudian slip. I actually like Massenburg. He played like an animal in those two or three games that he played. I think, if given the chance (and a new groin), he'd push Kenny out of the starting PF spot.

    My list of tradeables:

Walt Williams-He costs too much. We need to save for 01. Trade him for just about anyone who's contract expires in 01.

Kenny Thomas-YAY!! We got Collier, we don't need him. We never needed him. He's short. He's unathletic. He should no longer wear Rockets pajamas. Trade him (along with other items to get a young SF who can shoot, and run (one with defense preferable) and isn't undersized. Or trade him for another, and use it to help get that in the draft (His name is Terrence Morris [IMG])

Bryce Drew-Try with all your heart for a pick. But dump him for anything that expires in 01.

Rogers-Try throwing him in with something, to get someone who goes away in 01.

That's just about it on the trade front.

It is ideal to keep all picks, unless we are getting a young star-superstar.

If we do these things-send Walt, Rogers, and Drew off for nothing or players who's contracts expire in the 01 free agency, and make no other trades, we'll be headed into the 01-02 season with these players under contract:
    Francis
    Mobley
Anderson (assume we take his option, which we will)
    Collier
    Cato
    Thomas
    Langhi

7 good solid players. Plus we'll have 4 more draft picks to go with this, and here's the big key: If my calculations are correct (I based them on davo's page, and the Coon FAQ for rookie salaries (Collier), and minimum salaries (Langhi), then the Rockets will have only used up $18,392,469 of the projected $40,000,000 (minimum the cap will be is 35.5 mill). That's nearly 22 million of cap room, and we'd already have 7 solid players!!!! This is assuming no signings of extra players though, or using the 4.5 to pick up extra players. We also don't use mid level exceptions or the trade exception. But if the Rockets managed this, we'd be able to get Webber (at 12 million), sign ALL of our picks no sweat, and still have at least a good 4-5 million to spare. That's some serious business, and an offseason.

The more lefties on your team, the better.
Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong?
    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

Achebe-Are you questioning Massenburg's masculinity? [IMG]
