this isn't really basketball related, but why does is he always referred to with his middle initial?

like, when skip bayless is addressing him, he says, "Stephen A....."

he, or nobody else for that matter, call him just plain "Stephen"

    why?

This topic is about as important as Westbrook wearing Urkle glasses, perhaps less.

no really, im sorry for making this thread, but i am really interested in this for some reason, i mean, why 'Stephen A' instead of plain ol Stephen.

one explanation is all i need.

My guess is that "Stephen Smith" is a common name, and he wanted a way to distinguish himself from everyone else.

When I hear the name "Stephen Smith", I think about the guy who used to play for the Hawks.

Years ago, on The Best Damn Sports Show Period, I think he said that it was some type of tribute to his mother.

Because you can customize his name according to your mood, such as "Screaming A" or "****in A"

Probably because his name has already been said so many times as "Stephen A."

I think there is another national writer named Stephen Smith, maybe he does to avoid confusion.
