Are you ****ing kidding me?! They keep changing the MVP requirements every year. Did curry not have Klay and Thompson to lean on the past two years?!

    TLDR: he picked Westbrook.

I know, right. MJ had Scottie and Pippen to lean on, too.

Want to know why this is silly? Because it boils down to Westbrook averaging 2 more rebounds than Harden.

For instance if Westbrook ends the season with 9 rpg does he still get the MVP nod?

Who cares. All just talk right now, need to focus on just winning in dominant fashion. Everything else is just noise.

Because there's no such thing as a 1/3 Season MVP?

Well that just makes it sillier considering Westbrook's team is in 7th place in the west right now. It means that Westbrook is going to get these votes no matter what because of his triple double average.

It just goes to show you that klay and draymond are scrubs: well pretty much that wh0le team besides curry.
& this year their all scrubs again except for Durant.
The Rockets are the real "super team"............

It's going to take a miracle for Harden to win MVP. Now all of a sudden the unheralded Gordon & Beverley are the modern day Allen & Payton.

Good. Keep feeding that fire for harden. Like I give a **** about these so called 'analysts'. The results are there. The numbers are there. NBA fans know it. The players know it. The coaches know it.

Harden isn't winning MVP. Westbrook isn't either. Russ will probably get more 2nd or 3rd place votes than Harden though and Russ is the front runner for players MVP.

Either way, this isn't a big deal.

Was that the guy that projected the Rockets on the 8th seed?
    He's a keeper.

This is so hypocritical, especially considering how the 2014-2015 MVP race was settled.

Back then, Curry had way lesser stats than Harden (than Harden to Westbrook this season) but he played on a team that had more reliable players and won more games than the Rockets so Curry was declared "the best player on the better team" so he's MVP.

This season, WB has arguably better numbers than Harden (I would still take Harden's numbers because of the efficiency) but since he plays on a lesser talented team that needs his production more, he is "the most valuable player on his team" so he deserve be the MVP.

In 2015, Harden was the easily the "most valuable player on his team" and was penalized because his team was not as good as the Warriors. This year, Harden has been the "best player on the better team" that is on pace to win 14 games more than the Thunder, as of now, and he is penalized for it.

    More ESPN BS/Double Think/Propganda.

If Houston can keep up close to this pace for the whole year, Harden will be MVP. Losing a "star" player in Howard then winning 15+ more games the following year constitutes as carrying the team. All of this while leading the league in assists, top 5 in ppg, and having close to 12+ tripledoubles on the year.

nah, if the Thunder finish as the 7th seed as I expect, there's no way Russ wins the MVP. He's averaging a triple double right now, so there's that wow effect going on but it will wear out soon.

    Lmao. Too funny.

There are basically two ways to view MVP (best player or best player on the best team), but apparently Marc Stein would like to switch from one to the other and let the logic work itself out. Good stuff.

The entire argument for Curry was based on Golden State's record. "You can't NOT give it to someone on a team with 70 wins," etc etc.
