Definitely don't start Gordon. We want him off the bench for instant offense. The real question is do we start Melo or Ennis? I'm pretty sure the job will be Melo's to lose, but it wouldn't shock me if D'Antoni makes a switch during the season like he did with Ryno and Tucker.
Probably because Rockets didn't know for sure, at the time. For instance, Morey had no way of knowing whether Melo would get a full buyout, and it was reported that Melo intended to get all the money due, one way or another.
Wow him taking the minimum is huge. Melo has always been about that paper and him leaving us with our MLE to use on someone else either this summer or later on in the season really shows where his mind is at.. He's ready to win.
Remember when Charles and Quitten were friends and their friendship brought Quitten here? I remember.
I wonder if taking the vet min has something to do with being promised a starting role to start the season
[Premium Post] I am very skeptical that this will work out for the best, but I hope that it does. Can Melo accept a backseat role, can he mesh with the existing team chemistry, can he figure out a way to work with D'Antoni after not being able to do so in NY, can he play defense, can he reverse his shooting percentage declines? Questions abound. GOOD DAY
3? NY, OKC, and .... ATL? His release with them was part of the deal to get him. I wouldn't count that one. He was ran out of NY by Jackson. Jackson spent years tearing him down.
I'm in the same boat about Melo but, every player gets better in the best enviroments, that's a thing for scrubs, has to be the same for a guy like Melo, Harden and Paul are way better fits for him than Westbrook and George, let's give him a chance, for the minimu there's really nothing to not like, he isn't that kind of lockeroom cancer anyway. There's only upside for us in this situation, if he's going to work great, if not whatever, we tried and it would mean he's just not worth to be here for another season.
Knicks never wanted to move him either, he wanted to go and they obliged knowing the relationship was ruined by Phil. OKC was probably 50/50 fit and luxury tax. That's why they worked with him to make it happen and Melo made sure they got the best deal for them. **** even Denver offered him 85M before he said he wanted to leave. The media has thrown dirt on his reputation and fans just fall for it every time.
Hmm... with the MLE still available? While another PG would be nice, I really think we still need a PF/C type. Unless folks are still happy with Nene and Black???
