well as a muslim, i feel some obligation to make sure everyone has a full understanding of these issues from an islamic viewpoint, i am going to post statements from islamic scholars (btw, except for i think ibn jibreen, all of these scholars have already passed away, the most recent about a year ago - so this isnt just something ppl are saying all of a sudden in light of what has happened)

    1. The Words of Imaam Ibn Uthaymeen [major scholar, died last year] Concerning Suicide Bombings In Palestine & Elsewhere.

“…as for what some people do regarding activities of suicide, tying explosives to themselves and then approaching Unbelievers and detonating them amongst them, then this is a case of suicide and Allaah¹s refuge is sought. So whoever commits suicide then he will be considered eternally to Hell-Fire, remaining there forever, as occurs in the hadeeth (sayings of, or statement of) of the Prophet [Muhammad, peace be upon him], his saying, "And whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, then the iron weapon will remain in his hand, and he will continuously stab himself in his belly with it in the Fire of Hell eternally, forever and ever."

    -----------------------------------------

Imaam Ibn Baaz (he was the grand muftee (or giver of religious verdicts) for Saudi Arabia, died 2 years ago) on Hijacking planes and kidnapping

"From that which is known to everyone who has the slightest bit of common sense is that hijacking airplanes and kidnapping children and the like are extremely great crimes, the world over. Their evil effects are far and wide, as is the great harm and inconvenience caused to the innocent; the total effect of which none can comprehend except Allaah.

Likewise, from that which is known is that these crimes are not specific to any particular country over and above another country, nor any specific group over and above another group, rather it encompasses the whole world.

There is no doubt about the effect of these crimes; so it is obligatory upon the governments and those responsible from amongst the scholars and other than them to afford these issues great concern, and to exert themselves as much as possible in ending this evil."

    -----------------------------------------
    3. Hijacking planes and ships (scholar ibn jibreen)

"Question: There are some people who hijack a plane or a ship, and do so to apply pressure upon the country to which this plane or ship is headed. It is possible they threaten to kill the passengers, and in some cases actually kill some of them, until their demands are met. So what is the ruling about such actions, especially since such actions terrify the passengers?

Response: It is upon (every) country to provide sufficient security to prevent the likes of these rebels from taking over(planes or ships). It is upon the (respective) country to provide every airline with security (whilst on their land) which is sufficient to resist any hijack attempts by the aggressors; just as they should also co-ordinate a full (passenger) inspection prior to (their) boarding. Thus, they should not permit anyone to proceed (to board) until after they have ascertained that no-one is in possession of weapons even if it be (a piece of) metal (bar or the like). In addition to this, some gangs force the aircraft to divert to another destination, so if there are (amongst the crew or passengers) anyone with sufficient physical training to overpower them, then the rebels' plans will be destroyed.”

    -----------------------------------------
    Imaam Ibn Uthaymeen

Question: What is the ruling regarding acts of jihaad by means of suicide?

“. . . .And from that which is surprising, is that these people kill themselves despite Allaah having fordbidden this, as He (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aala) says:

{And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allaah is Most Merciful to you},
    [chapter 4, verse 29].

And many amongst them do not desire anything except revenge of the enemy, by whatever means, be it halaal (lawful) or haraam (unlawful). So they only want to satisfy their thirst for revenge.

    -----------------------------------------
Shaykhul- Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (died appr. 1430)

The khawaarij are those who . . . call for revolution and rebellion and bloodshed.

The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: "The (Khawaarij) are the dogs of Hellfire"

    -----------------------------------------

Imaam Ibn Baaz Concerning Those Who Partake In Bombings, Hijackings..

Question: [What is the ruling] concerning Jamaa'atul-Jihaad and co-operation with them?

Answers Imaam Ibn Baaz: "... they are not to be co-operated with, nor are they to be given salaams (greetings) to. Rather, they are to be cut off from, and the people are to be warned against their evil. Since they are a fitnah (tribulation/trial) and are harmful to the Muslims, and they are the brothers of the Devil (Shaytaan)!"

rH, thats precisely what im so frustrated about!!

see, these groups, arent concerned with the truth of islam, or what islam really teaches. islam as any muslim will tell you is a complete way of life, unfortunately, these bastards have just taken one thing, twisted it into a pretzel 30 times over, and just run with it, mostly to further their own demented political agendas.

now from the current major scholars,

Top Saudi cleric says US attacks a terrible crime in Islam
RIYADH, Sept 14 (AFP) - The deadly attacks in the United States are a "terrible crime" which Islam does not accept and no one should applaud them, the head of Saudi Arabia's Islamic judiciary said in comments published Friday.

"Killing a person who has not committed a crime is one of the major sins and terrible crimes ... What happened in America is ... undoubtedly a grave criminal act which Islam does not approve of and no one should applaud," Sheikh Saleh al-Lahidan told Okaz daily.

Lahidan, who is also a member of the Saudi Ulema (religious scholars) Council, said Islam strictly forbids bloodletting and does not condone the killing of innocent people, especially in a collective manner.

Several Islamic groups and organizations have condemned Tuesday's attacks in New York and Washington, describing them as a "horrible and hideous act."

Saudi Arabia, home to Islam's holiest sites, has condemned the jetliner suicide bombings and offered to help in the hunt for the perpetrators.

It's a shame all of these scholars aren't on national television saying this stuff. We need to hear this on a bigger stage to gain better understanding.

jamma34 thanks for the education. I also agree that we need more of this information in the media to try and impress upon people that this radical faction does not practice the mainstream Muslim faith. I am tired of hearing people {my brothers included} throwing a blanket statement over these people. Peace jamma34

    Timing..........your sig is hillarious :D

Islam is not behind this anymore than true Christianity is behind the KKK. This faction responsible for Tuesday's terrorist action uses the Islam name to do it's deeds - just like the KKK uses Christianity (if you every get a hold of some of the KKK's literature, you'd think that they are doing God a favor).

I think the problem is that this "group" thinks they are doing God a favor too. This is a "holy war" and we are Satan. Why?

We favor, are number 1 in, support:
    Adultery
    Pornography
    Drug Abuse
    Prostitution
    Greed
    etc

Go down the list of morals in the Koran and we pretty much have a problem with them all. And as we become more global, our "ways" spread. Add to this that we give to Isreal (which I still support) and oil rich Arabs who oppress their people (which I don't support) gives them even more emotion to hate western ways.

artvandolet, you more or less hit it on the head.

see, the way these bin laden types operate, they'll start speaking to you and stuff, and get you all riled up (believe me, ive heard these kinda speeches since i was like 5) by pointing out all the stuff happening in bosnia and chechnya and palestine, and all these things, women getting raped, i mean, it really gets your blood boiling you know? so after accomplishing this, they begin to point fingers, oh look at the american government, they're supporting the jews, the muslim governments arent real muslim governments, they're oppressive too, etc etc. (now this stuff i do agree with, however, now here is where we begin to differ)

THEN, they say, that the only solution, is this rebellion revolution bloodshed. and what they do, keeping in mind, hearing enough of the stuff mentioned above, these guys are so riled up, they're ready to do anything, so then, they'll just take some quotes out of context, and convince them these suicide missions and things like that are our only option. you have to understand, these guys are most likely ignorant, and if not ignorant... theyre dumber than a group of r****ded monkeys on crack... but they look up to these bin laden guys as heros and stuff, so when they take some random quotes about jihad out of context, they believe they'll be martyred. and what about the ones who ask, well isnt suicide forbidden, etc (and this is something most muslims learn in like first grade of sunday school.... everyone knows this)? they'll just say, oh you see, the scholars are really government agents and paid off by the media, they dont love jihad, etc etc.

actually, when you look at the WHOLE quran contextually with all the verses about jihad AND the other verses in there, it becomes crystal clear that this isnt the way. actually, the proper way, is this: to invite people to islam, correct our beliefs, get rid of innovations and misguidance in the religion, to take these examples and turn back in repentance, etc. like i said before, this whole revolution ideology is forbidden. actually there's a verse in the quran that says, "Verily! Allâh will not change the good condition of a people as long as they do not change their state of goodness themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allâh). " so its clear to see, that not only is what these guys are doing unislamic, but its already in the quran that this approach will fail.

so actually, the biggest lesson muslims are SUPPOSED to take from this, is that we're supposed to look back at ourselves and fix the things we are doing wrong, like not praying and giving in charity, etc.

anyway i know this isnt much detail here, but if anyone's interested in more, just drop me an email or something.
