Alright guys, what's the state of the team at the All Star Break? What improvements/solutions we need to do to go for the World Series run this year and our minor league systems going forward for the future.

Useless thread imo. This could be talked about in the Trade Speculation thread.

State of the Astros is they are the beat team in baseball. Astros will try to add pitching.

    Pretty obvious,

    An ace

A backup C, Chirinos is already wearing down.

Give me a LH SP that can pitch out of the BP in the playoffs.

Best match for SP is the Mets. I really like Wheeler and Thor has multiple yrs before FA.

C- Give me LuCroy or a guy like Voight, Suzuki.

We need to coat Correa's bones in adamantium.

Are the Yankees still all in on Wheeler? It would be good to get in a bidding match with the Yankees and lose :D

They desperately need a starting pitcher capable of giving them a favorable matchup in the playoffs. They could also use a good lefthanded reliever, a BoR starter for depth, and a good 3rd catcher (preferably who can be optioned), although none of those are must haves.

They’re the best team in the league and are on pace for 100+ wins. When everyone is healthy they will have 10 guys capable of batting in the middle or top of the order. They have 2 of the top 10 SP and 2 of the top 10 RP in the game. They have a deep bullpen and bench. But if they don’t get a Game 3 starter they will likely have wasted the season.

Who are the Yankees/Twins/Dodgers/etc 3rd and 4th starters, and how do they compare to Miley/Peacock?

Among AL teams, I'd only have Indians as better 3rd,4th starters right now*. I'd expect Yankees to add a guy, though, that would be better.

*caveat: I like Peacock as a SP more than most people on this board.

Dodgers are probably the only team with an elite SP3. But it’s likely that NY will acquire an upgrade. Peacock or Miley vs Odorizzi/Gibson/Pineda/Happ/Sabathia/German isn’t a disaster, but it’s certainly the area of the team most needing improvement.

Not sure what metric(s) you use for that assessment, but the Dodgers, Yankees and even the Twins are in the discussion for best team.

Agree that a solid #3 starter should be at the top of our acquisition list.
