The Unicorn actually got knocked down at the other end and had to come flying down the court to get back in the play. The guy can move for his size and those long strides give him that incredible speed and the timing on this dunk is amazing given the speed he was going.
He can shoot, long and athletic, good defensive player. It really would be interesting to see just how good Porzingas is if he weren't stuck in the middle of that sideshow with Rose and Melo. He'll get his chance, but he's really in a trash situation right now.
That gif looks like when you play a video game with cheats. Porzingis looks like some 8-foot white blur coming back to offense at light speed to get that nonsensical looking putback dunk. Giannis, Embiid and Porzingis (you can also count in Jokic) are the most fun players to watch in the whole league. None of them are Americans too, which is strange. So much young talent at frontcourt.
I just watched some Dunks-of-the-Day mixes with that dunk in it. (Some were a little better imo - BUT -) The nice part IS that he's a 7'3 guy showing amazing agility to do that. It speaks of his ability level It really is a new breed of athlete now. And theyre better at finding them around the world. Though those non-US players add SKILL level to the athletism. Theyre not just Jeremy Evans / Aaron Gordon out there (Side Note: One thing I saw in dunk mixes - Lebron is still a BEAST dunker, even with all the mileage, age on him, and new crop in the league)
Yup. Though Jokic doesn't seem athletic at all. But he's probably more skilled than any big man in the league right now.
It was a massive mistake re-signing Melo to a contract with a no trade clause. And then signing Noah to 4 years 80m at Porzingis' OBVIOUS position. Then drafting a couple of guys at that position. Then adding a ball dominant, contract year Rose to the mix. They had already been trash for over a decade, they could have dumped all their contracts and rode this season out and come out fresh. Now they're stuck because Melo will not go anywhere but Miami or LA. He would not go to the Cavs, despite what his agent might say. The Warriors would never take him nor could they. Phil, thus far, has been an atrocious GM. Bad trades, bad signings, bad at selecting a coach, bad at letting that coach do their job. Just overall has been shockingly bad. Feel bad for Porzingis. Would like to see what he can do. He's going to have his breakout season next year and I don't think Melo will take it well if he's still around.
I think Demarcus Cousins has it all over Jokic or any other big man in terms of skill. The Knicks seem content to use him as a 7' wing, he really doesn't have a post game. Maybe playing for another team he would develop big man skills more quickly. Doubt playing for anyone but NY is going to happen, he loves NY and NY loves him.
I used to think that DeMarcus is the most skilled big. That was before I researched Jokic a bit. Honestly, Jokic is definitely the more skilled of the two. What DeMarcus has to fool you otherwise is that brute strength to help his skills shine even more. But looking only at their skillset, Jokic is the #1 guy.
