Any chance we use the suddenly available cap space to reunite Spanish national teammates Pau Gasol and Sergio Llull? Gasol takes two year/22 mil, llull for 3 yr/ 12 mil. Then add papi for the room exception at 2yr/5 mill. Then match parsons. One of the only scenarios where we actually utilize our attractive international assets. No need to involve another team or trade anyone of consequence. Plausible enticement for Pau. Shores up three areas of need: 4, backup 1/2, backup 3. Creative idea, but Pau is a poor fit next to Dwight. I think he's going to the Knicks or the Bulls anyway.
I'm not a fan of Gasol (no defense) but the idea of signing our international players is an interesting one. Based on what I've read on this board, though, I didn't think Llull was ready to come over. If there's a way to get him, that's a solid idea.
He is not a poor fit. Mike dantoni just did not know how to use them together. Also, Howard was injured. If gasol worked great with Bynum, then it will work with dwight.
The only way to get Gasol's attention by now is to give him dam near close to the max. He is in love with the Bulls and freaking Spurs.
