I was searching to see if anyone brought this up, and I don't mean to bring the shuttle Columbia tragedy into this fun forum. However, considering that we are the Space City and that pride is echoed in our pro teams' names,(Rockets, Astros, and Comets) and since ironically the tragedy occured over our state, I think we should keep the Astronauts and their families in our prayers. And we all know how we cheer when the word "rocket" comes up in our national anthem. Let's pray for the 'Rocket' we lost tragically today.
32 replies and two response', you people are sad. Did anyone here the dumbass on tv today that said we should send someone from Irac to space, as a sign of good faith. The kicker is he's a 7th grade history teacher. What an idoit.
Maybe the 100+ responses in the thread about the accident located in the BBS Forum would help restore your faith in "people"?
Thanks for your support, Roc Paint. I wasn't sure if this was appropriate because we turn to sports to forget our worries and sadness in life, but we're Houston. I travel all over the world, and the first thing people say when I tell them I'm from Houston is NASA. Hell, if it weren't for movies like Apollo 13 and Armagedon, people might not even know about Houston. This is who we are. We were the last point of contact with those souls. I thought we'd remember them.
The city does have a connection to this. May those souls rest in peace. One positive to it is that they got to fulfill their dreams before their time came.
just in case you guys weren't sure what thread Doc was referring to.. here is a place where the cc.net is remembering the heroes of Columbia.. Shuttle Columbia thread
