An ignoranus is one who is both ignoranct and an A**hole.

Agent Orange humiliated by So Koreans, accused of 'shocking ignorance', after parroting Xi's explanation that Korea used to be part of China

Speaking in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Mr Trump said that Mr Xi “Went into the history of China and Korea … and you know, you’re talking about thousands of years … and many wars. And Korea actually used to be a part of China.”

South Korean daily newspaper Korea Joonang Daily said in an editorial: “We are dumbfounded that the leader of 21st-century China made such a ridiculous claim. If Trump really conveyed Xi’s words correctly, it is nothing but a grave challenge to the identity of the Korean people. “
Rah Jong-yil, a former South Korean ambassador to both London and Tokyo, told The Telegraph:
“It shows his shocking ignorance of the situation in north-east Asia. That is very disturbing to us.

"Somebody needs to enlighten Mr Trump about the facts of the region and he should not fall for this sort of silly nationalism from the Chinese," Mr Rah added.

    what's next ?

look for China to issue more branding rights/licenses to Trump businesses, and Agent Orange will

declare that all the SCS islands, embroiled in territorial dispute, belong to China

As for the subject, presidents do have these occasional diplomatic snafus where they accidentally say the wrong thing. But, yeah, Trump seems to say the wrong thing in every diplomatic occasion.

    Can I subscribe to Trump's alt-facts newsletter?

Or is it just shots of meth or heroin for me to "get the message".

It doesn't matter what Trump thinks. It didn't matter what Obama thought.

The Chinese are going to continue with the old "dusty map" routine: lay claim to territory through evidence available in ancient documents. They did this with the South China Sea.

What people should understand is that many times in the past, China's boundaries extended well beyond their current borders. I don't think it would be at all surprising to see China continue with this kind of behavior, and Trump playing into it certainly doesn't help.

To be fair, Han Dynasty did directly rule part of modern day North Korea. So if you consider PRC a successor state of Han Dynasty, then this might make some sense.

However, modern Korea traces its root to Silla which was formed initially in parts of the current South Korea several hundred years after Han Dynasty. In this sense, what was being said doesn't seem right.

Anyway, I think Trump should disclose what Xi said exactly in Chinese. Then we can all be the judge of what's going on.
