I go in game threads and it's a lot of people complaining about Ryno, saying he needs to be gone. Then cyberx comes in and says Rockets trying to make that happen and people are now upset we're trying to trade Ryno. Ryno won't make or break this season, but if getting rid of him means Lebron idk how you could be upset about that

With all of the talk about George Hill to Cleveland, what if the Rockets got involved and pulled off something like this?
    http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7w25rvf

Houston and Cleveland could each throw in some draft picks and young assets to sweeten the pot for Sacramento, who would be swapping out one bad contract for another, but would be gaining a ton of assets in the process. Cleveland would get the 3 and D guard they need, and Houston gets some salary relief and an easier contract to get rid of in the offseason.

Is there any indication that Cleveland is prepared to go into full blown fire-sale mode before the trade dealine given the current climate of dysfunction there? It's one thing if they can improve via trade, but if they dont find willing participants, would they stick with this much maligned team for the rest of the season?

While this is true ... There is a difference between using the small lineup for stretches and using it the whole game .

We saw what happened vs SA last year when James had to guard bigger players for a series .

What is going to happen to PJ or Trev or Luc when they are forced to guard bigger players for the rest of the season AND in the playoffs?

They are going to get worn down and their usual stellar D and decent shooting will go to crap.

I'd much rather let Ryan absorb the beating (given he is bigger)

Save our small lineups for small stretches where we can have energy to outhusle and have relatively fresh legs.

It doesn't have to be Anderson , it could be multiple contracts that reach the same value .... so trading Anderson for two guys (or more) on lesser contracts that accumulate to roughly the same amount works for the purposes of a star trade.

Lebron's deal is contract is $35,6m for next season , you have to send out $28.38m in salary (125%+100k) to absorb that $35.6. So you are looking at Anderson's $20.4 plus another $8m.

By having a roster spot open , they could conceivable bring in two players totaling 125%+100k of that $20.4m = $25.6m in the form of two contracts , putting them closer to that $28.38m figure required for Lebron.

It's high school goggles; complain about high school but then as soon as you graduate, you go "it wasn't that bad"

I’d be fine with this although I’d prefer to get a PF on a smaller or expiring contract as part of a Ryno trade

Ersan might be a good guess, 6M expiring contract (so, easy to match in a trade)...2nd rounder should be enough to get him.

Bulls could probably get a more promising player like Favors imo

TA can slide up to the 4, allowing for more three-guard lineups with Beard-CP-EG. It would also open up even more minutes for Luc, who will be key in any series with SAS (Kawhi) or GSW (KD).

You really don't want contracts that expire this year , you want them to expire next year .... so you can use them to bring in salary this offseason.

Expiring contracts are for teams who are going to operate below the cap that wont be the case for the Rockets .... they'll be well above from the start of the offseason with cap holds and current contracts.

Trevor at the 4 isn’t ideal at all, that’s playing too small which you would want to go small in stretches not the whole game.
