Alright, can we get any sort of pulse on this from the Rockets side? @cyberx @Codman @ch44 @Nook @The Cat @KellyUnchained
I just don't see it...they almost got sweeped last season, 4-1 (with games lost by 15/20 and 30 points) against Phila when the Sixers were in the playoffs for the first time with this core Spoiler G1 MIA 103 - 130 PHI G2 MIA 113 - 103 PHI G3 PHI 128 - 108 MIA G4 PHI 106 - 102 MIA G5 MIA 91 - 104 PHI ...even if they get Butler, they would be better, sure, but they would also lose depth, meanwhile the Sixers added Fultz and they will continue to get better with Embiid, Simmons, Saric improving. Boston will obviously be better in the first place, Toronto too if Kawhi is healty, you can actually make an argument for the Bucks, the Pacers and Wizards to be able to knock them out in the first round so...yeah.
He isn't bad at all just overpaid by about 7 mil/year which is a problem because we can't realistically re-sign Butler if we have Dieng and Tucker. That said our window isn't very big considering Paul's age. I'd say we have about a 2 year window, so it maybe worth it to take a 1 year shot and hope for something to work out.
Well all the Butler leaks are already extremely public now, so they would have to have info from Rockets side or Thibs/Taylor directly to be fair to them.
I guess you’re right if they’re waiting a couple years for all their big contracts to expire first to compete.
They at least need to wait until they actually have their own picks to be able to attach to bad contracts.
The problem is not one of "later" but "prior." He first needs to find someone to absorb Dieng, if that truly is a requirement (per the Miami trade). Minny isn't going to take back $35m worth of salary in a trade. Just like Miami (Sacramento) Morey can only fix that by finding a 3rd team....or Minny has to drop the Dieng requirement from the trade.
They should just wait a couple of years, let all those meh/bad contracts to end, get out of the tax, let Bam and Winslow grow and build around them and Richardson. In two years they would be able to be players again in free agency and go after one/two stars to put around Bam/Winslow and Richardson and their cheap contracts. That would be the best thing they can do imo, but it's obviously easier to say it for me.
Knight has a shorter contract than Dieng, and a cheaper one. Minny would also save several million in the Butler for Gordon and scrubs trade...basically just needs to get within 25 %.
So the wolves dragging this into the season is a good thing for us right? I'm assuming they waiting til October 31st so they can take our offer of Gordon, Chriss and a 1st.
