Team is discussing the pros and cons on bringing in a defensive minded coach and Mike Brown is now being discussed.

Rockets brass will meet more formally to discuss - big issues I am told from some of the Rockets people is that they want to make sure they can keep an assistant a year or two before they leave for another team (they want more stability).

Concern is Brown MAY get an offer for a head coaching position this or next off season.

    More as it comes.

I'm ok with this, even if he only stays for 2 seasons

I can't see anybody hiring him as a head coach soon, unless wherever he ends up, wins a championship right away, then gets consideration around the league

Getting Mike Brown to become our future head coach is sort of like giving up on the Howard/Harden era.

We'll have McHale next year. Then Mike Brown for Howard's last year.

I do not think Brown will get an NBA coaching gig before the start of this season.

This is a PERSONAL opinion, not something I heard.

Mike Brown is much better than McHale as a head coach, how would anyone expect he come here as an assistant? LMAO.

Good god, I didn't even think of this. That' would be the ultimate nightmare. I hope he gets offered a head coaching job elsewhere and takes it.

Dwight appreciated the way Brown looked and taught defense...

Dwight didn't really have a chance to like or not like Brown in his time in LA.
Dwight was limited in training camp coming off back surgery and played in one preseason game.

I know he worked for Pop and Carsile, 2 coaches I respect very much, but not sure how much he has learned.

His whole credential and philosophy related to winning has been:

    1. Get a LeBron
    2. Give the ball to LeBron

I am sure he will solve our defensive issues.

Called it! He'd actually be great here as an assistant

    cyberx, any news on JVG?

IIRC, he has stated in the past that he may be willing to come back as an assistant

    Thanks!

Bunch of crybabies in here now. Brown can coach defense like a beast. Comes from the Spurs system too.

So getting Mike Brown means we get Lebron after next year?

Brown needs to see if it even financially makes sense for him to come here.

Need to look at numbers to see what he is getting from the Cavs. Did he agree to a sum of money? What will he lose if he goes somewhere else?

He may be even getting paid from the Lakers still - I think it was a 4 year deal with them. Not certain though.
