That's around what Beckham will receive total, including endorsements. His MLS salary is nowhere near that large by itself. David Beckham can expect around $6,500,000 this year from the Los Angeles Galaxy.

No way LeBron would go over there. None. This is his stage, and if the NBA thought he would even consider going over there, David Stern would get out the kneepads and whatever else and go to town.

Besides, when LeBron leaves the Cavs in two years to play for the Brooklyn Jay-Z's, he'll be looking at Mad Muh-Fu**in' Money anyway. New York metro area + LeBron = NBA Front Office Nirvana.

Why not go over there for $50 million? It's only for a year and still gets to play in the NBA for a championship. When he is past his prime, he can go back and make $50mil/yr until he is 40.

I think this could be a legit possiblity. One of his many discussed and known goals is that he wants to become a billionaire and this type of money per season would definitely get him there quicker than playing in the NBA.

But who knows what will happen as this is still two years away.

I dunno, 50 million tax free is the equivalent of around 70 million with taxes. he could opt out and come back after a year or two enough time to build his over seas rep and still be young enough to come back and compete. plus if he really wanted a championship he could join a top quality team for a the MLE for 1 year get his ring then sign a major NBA deal.

there are plenty of outside the box ways of thinking that can make it a win win for lebron.. the NBA on the other side loses.

I am pretty surprised and hugely disappointed to learn how many of the players are businessmen first and basketball players second.

I share your sentiment but you gotta make as much as you can while you can.

Are there any Euro teams that can actually offer him that much money per year? Que: SamFisher or any other Euro experts.

No teams in Europe can offer more than 10mil a year. That's why they are exactly stealing premium players from NBA. The best European players still play in NBA, Dirk, Parker, Peja et al.

Hardly a surprise when his #1 goal is being a billionaire, not an NBA champion. (Something I have no problem with)

sorry but it comes to a point where if you get an offer for 5 years at 20 million from your existing team but then get offered 40 million over 5 years, which would you choose? hmm tough choice.. gotta go with..... the more profitable salary!?

Lebron isn't going to Europe. He wants to be a global icon. If he goes to Europe, he'll be a tenth banana athlete behind their soccer stars. And his profile in the US would be drastically diminished. King James or not, if he's not playing in the NBA, fans over here aren't going to care.
