why would the rocket cut him? You have to pay the guy these aren't football contracts. Might as well pay him to rot than to cut him and take a chance cutting him checks with he plays for someone else.

It's interesting. Maybe a pick swap. Sacramento gets a right to swap picks with Charlotte this year or for a couple years. It looks like Charlotte may have a top 3 pick.
It also looks like Charlotte may get Portland's pick this year, so there's a lot of value in a conditional trade clause (Sacramento gets Charlotte pick outright, as long as Charlotte gets Portland's pick).
They can really build an awesome package.

Biyombo+Detroit pick + pick swap/conditional trade + Diop for Salmons+Cousins? That would be hard to resist.

If that trade goes thru & you decrease their projected wins by 11, then the Kings won't win another game all season!:grin:

Based upon? Not saying it's not true, I just can't find anything that implies this (Charlotte's 1st round pick being top 12 protected to Chi is all i can find, whilst Sacramento is top 13 protected to Cleveland)

Actually nvm, misread it, Charlotte btw have two team's first round picks, that both become unrestricted in 2016. Portland's (top 12 til 2015) which they'll probably get this year or next, and Detroit which might really make it to top 1 protection in 2015.

Rest easy, Greg Smith. No way DM will give much for Cousins. He might be curious to see how much Sac would give someone, anyone, to take Cousins. Something must be going on, if we really are adding Beverley and Anderson.

Yeah, something like "you get Portland pick (or Detroit pick), and you also get a right to move up with either of your picks into our pick" would be very interesting.
It's a bit complicated, but very common.

It would mean that Sacramento is close to certain to have a top 5 pick this year, either their own or Charlotte's, and might actually have both.
If they don't get to use that right this year, they could be given a right to move up next year. Heck, maybe they move up and get Wiggins.

Even though Charlotte can't trade their pick straight up, there are still some very interesting possibilities to work around it.

By the way, I read that Geoff Petrie is retiring after the year, so I imagine he'd like to clean up the mess. I'm expecting a Cousins trade at this point, I just wonder if it's a smart long term deal, or some rushed trade for veterans hoping to make a desperate last playoff push.

I would trade asik for him.

I know that sounds crazy, but I'd start Greg smith next to cousins. With harden and Lin both wanting to use the pick and role/drive and dish; having to big men that can catch the ball and finish would be awesome.

Greg smith is strong enough to play against every 5 in this league and cousins should be able to hold his own against most fours. If smith sucks, throw all your chips in on Dwight Howard.

You didn´t get the memo, Clutchfans thinks Cousins is a scrub because his FG% is horrible, and they would hang up if Sac demanded Greg Smith.

These guys hate Shaub because he is average and we know what we get with him, but they love guys like Asik and Smith, even tho their upside is nowhere nears Cousins.

Look I love Asik and Smith they bring everything they have 24/7, and they are easy to work with because they are balanced individuals, but if you can get a guy like Cousins, with a post player that played the game at the level in which coach McHale did, with a leader like Harden that doesn´t talk just plays at the highest level, you just have to take a chance on this kid.

Of course if he goes to a losing franchise again like the Bobcats, I fear these "no sense fans" will be right in the end, because he needs the wining mentality around him to succeed and I don´t think Charlotte will have that in the next 5 years.

Doubt they'll let their own pick go, especially when team is pointing to be the Hornets again next year and the direction of their season towards another shot at the #1 (Cousins would be another not quite franchise type risk like Kidd-G).

As for the Kings, i didn't know Petrie was going, but that would probably give more weight to the rumours of that team becoming the Sonics.
