Whether this is legit inside info or not, it seems like it would make sense.

It's one thing for CP3 to take a little less money if that meant getting someone like LeBron or someone else that would dramatically increase our chances of winning a championship. I bet he would be likely to do it then.

It's another if we strike out on the major free agents and he's asked to take a paycut just to help out Tilman's wallet

We are going to be operating over the cap pretty much no matter what, so I don't see how CP3 taking a discount helps anything but Fertitta's pocketbook. I'm personally not a huge fan of players taking a pay cut just so the Owners don't have to shell out more money.

This is precisely what I expected. CP3 wants to be paid, sure. But he is willing to be flexible depending on what talent can be added.

CP3 is balancing his finances with his "competitiveness." He is not going to cut off his nose to spite his face by hurting the team's chances to make it MORE competitive. That stuff drives CP3.

Morey I am sure laid out all of this last year. There probably is a matrix of final salary numbers contrasted to talented added.

If Chris Paul was 25 years old he deserves the Supermax, At 33 years old he knows he is running out of time, A lot of Players want to join the Rockets. Resigning Ariza is a need, but he needs to come off the bench. SF position needs an upgrade. Chris Paul is really a impressive recruiter, A Really good one at that, Chris really knows under the radar talent, like Luc when he was healthy, playing well. Will Barton, Fred VanVleet bench options, Backup Center Dwyane Dedmon
