Okay, here are some ideas for us armchair GMs ;).

Trade No. 1: Three-way with Denver and Chicago

Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Nikoloz Tskitishvili (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 8.7 minutes)
PF Tyson Chandler (7.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 25.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -4.7 ppg, +3.5 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

Denver trades: SG Voshon Lenard (13.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 24.0 minutes)
PF Nikoloz Tskitishvili (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 8.7 minutes)
Nene Hilario (No games yet played in 2004/05)
Denver receives: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
SG Eric Piatkowski (6.4 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 16.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.4 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +3.7 apg.

Chicago trades: PF Tyson Chandler (7.3 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 0.7 apg in 25.4 minutes)
SG Eric Piatkowski (6.4 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.2 apg in 16.6 minutes)
Chicago receives: SG Voshon Lenard (13.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 24.0 minutes)
Nene Hilario (No games yet played in 2004/05)
Change in team outlook: -0.7 ppg, -7.7 rpg, and -0.9 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston, Denver, and Chicago being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Denver, and Chicago had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    -----------

Denver needs some outside shooting, which they get with Pike, and a veteran backup with a reasonable contract whose skills are not redundant with Camby and Kenyon. They would have to pay Nene big or let him walk anyway...

Chicago would do it to get Nene. They could afford to wait until Lenard is healthy again, not losing too much by giving up Pike.

    ------------

Trade No. 2: Get PJ Brown from New Orleans

Houston trades: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (3.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.8 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF PJ Brown (9.1 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 34.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.3 ppg, +3.7 rpg, and -1.6 apg.

New Orleans trades: PF PJ Brown (9.1 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.7 apg in 34.6 minutes)
New Orleans receives: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (3.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.8 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.3 ppg, -3.7 rpg, and +1.6 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and New Orleans being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New Orleans had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    -----------------

New Orleans does it because they are not going anywhere this year anyway, and PJ Brown is kind of old. By getting Weatherspoon, they get a player with a smaller, shorter contract than PJ. Lue's contract runs out after this season and they could use some short-term help with Baron out.

    -----------------

Trade No. 3: Deal with the Clippers

Houston trades: Jimmy Jackson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Chris Wilcox (13.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg in 29.9 minutes)
PG Marko Jaric (12.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 6.1 apg in 34.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +19.6 ppg, +8.1 rpg, and +4.1 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Chris Wilcox (13.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg in 29.9 minutes)
PG Marko Jaric (12.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 6.1 apg in 34.7 minutes)
L.A. Clippers receives: Jimmy Jackson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -19.6 ppg, -8.1 rpg, and -4.1 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    ---------------

We would have to throw in 3 millions in cash and at least a 2nd round draft pick for this one, I guess. They might be willing to do this really only under three conditions - if they think they could actually make the playoffs this year with some veteran help, if they see Livingston rather than Jaric as their longer-term solution at PG, and if they don't think of Wilcox as a C and don't see much of a need for him at PF behind Brand.

I wouldn't mind losing JJ that much, it would just give Boki more playing time...

    -----------------

Trade No. 4: Let's get some more Knicks

Houston trades: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (3.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.8 minutes)
PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: C Nazr Mohammed (13.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 0.2 apg in 28.3 minutes)
SG Anfernee Hardaway (7.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg in 23.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.8 ppg, +1.4 rpg, and 0.0 apg.

New York trades: C Nazr Mohammed (13.0 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 0.2 apg in 28.3 minutes)
SG Anfernee Hardaway (7.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg in 23.9 minutes)
New York receives: SF Clarence Weatherspoon (3.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.8 minutes)
PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.8 ppg, -1.4 rpg, and -0.0 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and New York being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New York had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    -------------

New York would also get a 2nd round pick with this one. Why does NY do it - they might just be desperate to get rid of Penny. With Allan Houston coming back, and with Marbury and Crawford in the backcourt, there really is no room for Penny there anymore. Supposedly, they have been showcasing Mohammed... And who knows, they might think that Mo or Howard could help them offensively...

    ----------------

Trade No. 5: Probably a more realistic Knicks trade

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Houston receives: SG Anfernee Hardaway (7.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg in 23.9 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (7.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.7 apg in 16.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -7.9 ppg, -4.1 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

New York trades: SG Anfernee Hardaway (7.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg in 23.9 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (7.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.7 apg in 16.8 minutes)
New York receives: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +7.9 ppg, +4.1 rpg, and +2.8 apg.

    ----------

NY might do it to get rid of Penny...plus, they would save a bit of money by the end of this season when Lue's contract expires, and they would get a slight upgrade, offensively, at PF.

We'd do it just to get rid of these two power forwards.

Trade No. 6: Save cap space at the end of the year

Houston trades: PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: C Dale Davis (2.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -12.7 ppg, -2.3 rpg, and -4.7 apg.

Golden State trades: C Dale Davis (2.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.8 minutes)
Golden State receives: PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +12.7 ppg, +2.3 rpg, and +4.7 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Golden State being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Golden State had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    --------------

Why does GS do it? They get a good scorer in Mo Taylor, much better player than Dale Davis at this point.

Why do we do it? Getting Troy Murphy would be a pipe dream, but with this deal, at least at the end of this season, one of our non-rebounding PFs would be off the book. Dale Davis is pretty much done, might help a little bit with rebounding only, but would we lose anything? No, we still have Howard who is basically very similar to Taylor.

    ----------------

Trade No. 7: Do the unthinkable and go for the nutcase

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Jimmy Jackson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Reece Gaines (No games yet played in 2004/05)
Houston receives: SF Jonathan Bender (8.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SF Ron Artest (24.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 41.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +17.6 ppg, +2.4 rpg, and -1.6 apg.

Indiana trades: SF Jonathan Bender (8.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
SF Ron Artest (24.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.1 apg in 41.6 minutes)
Indiana receives: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Jimmy Jackson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
Reece Gaines (No games yet played in 2004/05)
Change in team outlook: -17.6 ppg, -2.4 rpg, and +1.6 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Indiana being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Indiana had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    -------------------

Indiana also gets a 2nd or maybe even 1st round pick.

Why does Indiana do it? They are short of players and need some healthy bodies NOW. They might want to get rid of Artest the nutcase. Bender is always injured. Taylor can put the ball in the basket and JJ can provide some veteran leadership and steady three-point shooting.

Why do we do it? We are ready to take a gamble at this point.

    ----------------------

Trade No. 8: Get a PF that focuses more on rebounding

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: C Lorenzen Wright (6.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.5 apg in 25.3 minutes)
SF Ryan Humphrey (3.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +1.7 ppg, +3.1 rpg, and -0.2 apg.

Memphis trades: C Lorenzen Wright (6.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.5 apg in 25.3 minutes)
SF Ryan Humphrey (3.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 8.3 minutes)
Memphis receives: PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.7 ppg, -3.1 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Memphis being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Memphis had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

    -------------------

Why does Memphis do it? They will have a new coach who might want to make some changes. Wright plays behind Gasol and Swift. Taylor would be a better change of pace for them, from Gasol and Swift.

Why do we do it? Wright is a better rebounder and his contract runs a year shorter than Taylor's.

    ---------------------

Trade No. 9: Save cap space and get a steady PG

Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: Glenn Robinson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Kevin Ollie (0.7 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -21.9 ppg, -10.6 rpg, and -5.7 apg.

Philadelphia trades: Glenn Robinson (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Kevin Ollie (0.7 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.0 minutes)
Philadelphia receives: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +21.9 ppg, +10.6 rpg, and +5.7 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Philadelphia being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Philadelphia had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

    -------------

Why does Philly do it? They are looking for a taker for Glenn Robinson. Ollie hasn't been doing very much in Philadelphia. They might think that either Howard or Taylor could help them offensively.

Why do we do it? Primarily to save cap space and to get rid of our PFs. Plus, Ollie might actually help to steady the PG position a bit.

    --------------

    Trade No. 10: Get Donyell!

Houston trades: Reece Gaines (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Jerome Moiso (1.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 9.2 minutes)
SF Lamond Murray (6.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.4 apg in 15.8 minutes)
PF Donyell Marshall (9.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 21.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +1.7 ppg, +3.4 rpg, and -2.9 apg.

Toronto trades: PF Jerome Moiso (1.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 9.2 minutes)
SF Lamond Murray (6.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.4 apg in 15.8 minutes)
PF Donyell Marshall (9.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 21.6 minutes)
Toronto receives: Reece Gaines (No games yet played in 2004/05)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 23.8 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg in 27.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.7 ppg, -3.4 rpg, and +2.9 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    ---------------

Toronto also gets a 2nd round pick with this.

Why does Toronto do it? They might do it, if Donyell tells them he will not re-sign with them after this season. They need to try something new, whatever they have been doing is not working out. Murray has already demanded to be traded, Moiso never worked out. They would get a good offensive player in Mo Taylor.

Why would we do it? Because of Donyell! Excellent rebounder, can shoot the three - really underrated player. I would love to see him play alongside Yao. Plus, we would get rid of Gaines, who is deadweight.

Do you think any of these ideas would be realistic?

Which one out of all of those do you think would be at the same time the most realistic and most desirable to happen?

Please indicate your choice by answering the poll.

Also, if you have other, own trade ideas, please post them in this thread! :)

Be careful with these crazy trade threads, Gummi Clutch might come in and demand that this be locked so as not to start "rumors."

Trade 10 would be great. It only works if Marshall demands the trade though. It is still more realistic than trade 1, which I also liked, because in trade 1 Denver gets the big screwjob.

The reason trade 10 is great for us is that all three players we would be getting could be big contributors for us.

On the other hand, if we just wait a couple of season we should have a lot of caproom when contracts like Taylor's, Weatherspoon's, and Howard's start coming off the books and we can sign a pretty big FA. We should also get a high lotto pick or two in that time. :(

    TRADE 1:
I thought about something like this as well. There are rumors that Denver & Chicago were talking about a Nene for Chandler/Pike deal. Denver is still looking for a replacement for Lenard and are interested in Pike. I think it would work better if the Bulls were getting Skita instead and Houston threw in a pick. I was thinking of something along the lines of Mutombo/Pike to Denver, Chandler to Houston, Skita/Nene/White to Chicago. I like this one the best.

    TRADE 2:
Not bad. I guess NO does this to get shorter contracts.

    TRADE 3:
I don't think the Clippers trade Wilcox, especially for what you are having the Rockets offer. I always thought a good trade with them would be to get Jaric and Mikki Moore.

    TRADE 4:
I don't think the Knicks do that. They are trying to get rid of bad contracts not add them with Mo & Howard. I also can't see them trading thier only true center for two PFs.

    TRADE 5:
Same as trade 4 but they are REALLY high on Sweetney. The only way they trade him, is to acquire a real good player in return (ie: Carter). I think if there is anyone that could be had from them, it would be Kurt Thomas.

    TRADE 6:
I think GS would rather have the extra cap space by keeping Davis, rather than having MoT & Lue.

    TRADE 7:
I guess anything is possible when it comes to the Pacers and ARtest right now.

    TRADE 8:
The Grizzlies want a legit center. I can't see them trading the one that is closest to that and not get another in return.

    TRADE 9:
NO team wants BOTH of our PF's and I don't think Ollie is the answer at PG.

    TRADE 10:
I think they want to focus on trading Carter before wondering what they are going to do witht he rest of the roster.

If we are just throwing out ideas...

    ------------------------------------
    Houston trades:

Trades 6 and 10 are the only ones that are possibly realistic and may interest both teams. Golden State seems to be devaluing salary cap space with their recent free agent signings and extensions. Davis would be a good fit here and we may be able to resign him for low $$$ as a backup 4/5, and create salary space all at the same time.

Donyell would definitely be an upgrade for us at the 4. I'd like to see him here.

good to see the random trade generator is still working SJC

the big problem for me is we can all dream about acquiring a Murphy, Chandler, Wilcox, Daniels, Jaric and the list goes on we all know the players we need but we really have nothing of value to offer teams in return

we have a pile of SFs (Soft Forwards) with extremely unfriendly contracts and our only expiring contracts are Deke and Lue and neither are that appealing... guess we do have the TE and looks like a decent first round pick

Chicago and Denver don't do this. It would basically be a Chandler for Hilario deal, which Chi-Town could get more for. Lenard is out for the season and Chicago needs a good SG.

Denver sure gives up a lot. They want Pike but they have no room for Juwan and Lue. Camby/Martin-Miller/Boykins

Look at the "change in team outlook" and tell me if it possible. Sterling is dumb, but he isn't this dumb. Jaric/Wilcox are putting up the numbers the Clips have been waiting for, they're not going to give it up for Jackson/Lue. I don't think Cash or picks could get this deal done either.

The Knicks aren't trading Sweetney, he one of the only highlights of their season so far. The Knicks don't want to part with Sweetney for Curry, they won't do it for Taylor/Howard.

Also, they already have KT, what room do they have for 2 more overpaid PFs. The Knicks already have cap problems out the wazoo, adding Howard and Taylor make things a whole lot worst.

Once again, look at the change in team outlook. Glenn's stats aren't coming up but he sure isn't averaging 22-10-5.

So I guess our PF rotation would be Robinson-Padgett?

These aren't too bad of trades, but I don't see any of them, except deal 1 that is plausible and that would help us.

RealGM has a bug, they do not have Jim Jackson's stats in there. Still not even, but much closer.

I would like to get Jaric, but I wonder if we could pry Hinrich away from Chicago. They're playing like crap right now and maybe desperate for help. But as we know, Houston doesn't have much to offer.

I like this thread. For a while I've been thinking we cant do any trades because all we have are the two untouchables and a bunch of crap no one wants. But JJ, I forgot about about JJ. He's relatively cheap, and a veteran. He's our trade bait. I think any trade we do involves him.

Is he the only one on the team with successful playoff experience?
