Do you see Harden playing point guard forever? Or do you think if we have the opportunity to get a star point guard he moves back to the 2?
I think he could stand to be a little less ball-dominant. And he probably will be, if we get a scoring SF and a more consistent PF. No one knows what the future holds for Harden; if he ever pairs with other stars and different circumstances, I think he needs to move back to a super-SG role. For being the most calculating scorer in the league, his passing is very inconsistent. Or maybe the very fact that he is so calculated means that he telegraphs his passes, leading to all of the easy top-of-the-key turnovers that we see.
It's amazing that after only just one season playing pg, which is the hardest to learn similar to QB in football, harden is considered one of the best. Just amazing. I would say wall the the better pure PGas well. He's just so similar to a young cp3 to me. Really don't feel like he gets enough respect. Wrong. I think as the season went on teams started feeling us out and catching up at our spots and becoming "predictable" because the entire offense was mostly PnR where Harden succeeds with spot open shooters. The whole adding wrinkles aspect I think will be cuts and off ball screens to get guys open for Harden to pass to. We had the offense scared back imo while teaching Harden on the job. I think next year we will see a much more fluid offense based around the same thing but with added wrinkles away from the ball.
i see him moving to the bench in 2 or 3 years as a sixth man...he's a combo-guard. he has to have the ball, so he wouldn't do well with a true-point, unless he learns how to play off the ball and work on his catching and shooting ability 2 feet behind the 3 point line. He doesn't have the vertical or long enough arms to do it in the mid-range.
Yes. In the traditional sense that we're naming and restricting players to specific positions. Nothing Harden has ever done in Houston has shown me he can play off the ball unfortunately.
theres no way he's a bench player in 2 or 3 years. he'll still be an mvp caliber player in that time and those don't come off the bench
