It appears that the recent Nene signing fully exhausts our cap, so how much is left to sign remaining free agents? Unless there is a loophole I am not seeing it looks like any of the remaining prospective signings are going to have to be sign and trades or at the MLE or BE.

The Rockets were over the cap before they resigned Nene. The team used their non-Bird rights to go over the cap to resign Nene. They still have the 8,406,000 Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception and the 3,290,000 Bi-Annual Exception to spend on Free Agents as well as Minimum Player Exceptions.

Basically if we can't trade away Ryan Anderson, then all the Rockets can do is add players that fit into the MLE and BAE

Does it mean no superstar player on free agency market is possible without trade Ryan Anderson? Superstar like Millsap or Hayward?

There is a loophole you're not seeing.

You should make a thread on it.

the rockets want to stay over the cap so they can keep their MLE and BAE.

they can still trade any combination of: ryno, ego, ariza, capela, NG contracts worth up to $11M in incoming salary.

according to the trade machine: a package of ryno, quarterman, taylor, and uthoff is the least amount of salary we can give to receive melo (or someone else at around $24M) in a trade. of course we'd have to add picks, but just saying cap wise we can get that done. if we wanted to also receive millsap in a S&T for a max contract we can send ego, ariza, nanu, kelly, and long. we have enough outgoing salaries to complete 2 trades where we receive 2 stars. its just up to the other team to accept what we have in trade.

if somehow we pulled off both of those trades. borderline iggy type stars will be lining up to join. guys that could get more on the open market, but are older and want to win, might settle for the MLE. guys like redick, gay, rose, collison, james johnson or illyasova.

same thing for the BAE. guys who can make MLE money but are older and want to win might take BAE money here. guys like: amir, miles, patterson, jennings, young.
