This is a list of the best free agent small forwards currently...off of www.nba.com . They didn't include James Posey! Nobody watches Rockets games! He's not a shooting guard anymore! Well maybe he will be this season...Anyways...which small forward fits us best? James Posey or one of these guys?

"1. LAMAR ODOM: A rare, versatile, tall (6-10) talent
    2. COREY MAGGETTE: Coming off career year (16.8 ppg)
    3. SCOTTIE PIPPEN: Ultimate point forward
    4. JUMAINE JONES: Great size, athleticism for a three
    5. ADRIAN GRIFFIN: Bowen-esque defensive swingman
    6. WALT WILLIAMS: Filled in very well when Dirk got hurt in conference finals
    7. IRA NEWBLE: Swingman averaged 13.5 ppg in April
    9. BRYON RUSSELL: Veteran is still solid perimeter threat
    8. LEE NAILON: Scorer could contribute in right situation
    10. DARVIN HAM: Good defender, rebounder off bench

    --Randy Kim, NBA.com"

Lamar Odom......we can't afford him. Corey Maggette...young star, can't get him. Scottie Pippen......NO WAY.

#4-10 are all average players like James Posey. Do any of them fit better here than James Posey? If we can't get James Posey back....which one would you want to replace him?

Bostjan Nachbar should be the backup...
Glen Rice shouldn't be playing anymore.

I don't think anyone on that list comes close to Posey in terms of skill and fit. I guess that's why he costs so much.

I'd have to say Posey has the most potential on that list and I was not really sold on Posey's post Denver performance last season.

I have always loved Corey Magette, but like you say, there's no way we could get him (w/o a sign and trade, which won't happen). I say we keep Posey, and also agree that Rice no longer sees the court. We should keep him around so we have a little bit of cap relief next summer. I don't know what that will mean in terms of us getting a free agent next season, but either way, it will be nice to have 9$ mil. coming off the books... And I'm gonna be pissed if Boki is no good. I'm expecting big things, especially in summer leage.

The reason why James Posey was not listed as one of the top free agent small forwards is because he was listed as one of the top free agent SHOOTING GUARDS..

    http://www.nba.com/transactions/movement2003_lists.html

He was listed as #5 in top free agent shooting guards
" 5. JAMES POSEY: Rangy defender, strong finisher, solid rebounder (5.1 rpg), great size (6-8) "
