Is this in the super-long DH thread? If not: http://tracking.si.com/2013/07/01/rockets-dwight-howard-meeting/ Excerpt: "According to a report in the Houston Chronicle, Howard asked Morey if he would be able to offer another player a max-contract deal in addition to the contracts of Harden and Howard if he were to sign."
i would only offer max to lma of all players available or in free agency talks. smith not worth anything more than 10 mil.
...if we sign the 3rd max player. Would DH settle for J Smoove? Chandler Parsons isn't a max contract guy, but sure as heck deserves to be.
I hope Howard is not demanding that we a pay a 3rd player max MONEY. I hope he is demanding that we get a quality 3rd star and leaves the money up to Morey. We could get a 3rd max contract, but it would have to be worth it otherwise the organization won't be able to sustain it and we will get exceedingly crappy role players. I would rather have manageable cap flexibility and excellent role players on good contracts.
So he wants max money, nice teammates, coach he approves and will teach him post moves, a system he will get a lot of touches in...AND a 3rd max player? Yeah right...If I was his teammate and he gets all that, I'd expect nothing less than 30/15 average each season.
He should meet with the Nets. They already have 5 or 6 Max players. Dwight Howard in a nutshell: He wants to be THE MAN on the team but does not want to shoulder the responsibilities of being THE MAN on the team.
well **** this is ****in true eveen tho we have the capspace, i hate having a big 3 taking up 80-90% of the cap
Sigh... EVERYTHING is in the super long Dwight Howard thread. When will people realize they can't out-scoop the machine also known as J.R.? People keep trying to, and once in a blue moon they succeed, but they don't beat him by much. I don't know why they keep trying... J.R. will have any and all relevant news posted in a timely manner. Stop cluttering the board and the thread damnit. /rant
I look at this roster as currently constructed and think adding Howard likely makes them a 1-2 seed in the West .... Then I think of the FA crop of 14 and or 15 depending upon who opts out and who doesn't and think .... having cap space when that group hits FA would be ideal to long term championship contention. I guess it would depend on who else is signed , and the length of their deal as to how you could approach FA at that time. Question - I've seen multiple people state that with Asik or Lin's deal (~$8.3m) the Rockets could bring back ~$12m in a S&T pending they are below the Lux Tax Apron. Meaning they can take back 150% of the salary sent out .... I was under the impression that they were only able to take back 125%+100k. Was the figure changed from 125%+100k to 150% in the new CBA or is someone posting bad information ?!?
Like others have said, it doesn't mean pay another player max money. Probably just means another star player. And I doubt he was asking specifically, probably more in the context of how this team will be structured to be a contender. Is it just Harden and Howard or another star like Josh Smith as well. It's good to see Howard doing his due diligence and also focussing on the basketball side of things... Winning
