There are a lot of good teams in the west.

OKC, SA, LA are all definitely in. Hard to see Mavs, Portland not making it. So that's a solid 5.

Then you have NOLA, G.S., Memphis, and PHX as contending for a playoff spot.

I think we are in between those two groups and will likely finish with the 6th seed.

If the Rockets don't make the playoffs this fanbase is going to run someone out of town (McHale, Harden, Howard) and probably cannibalize itself.

Mavs have every right to be ranked higher than us. They added a center that will compliment Dirk very well, and upgraded at small forward big time. Carlisle is an unreal coach. They're going to be very dangerous in the playoffs.

People are sleeping on Dirk too. In a playoff series there aren't ten players better than him.

So are they still going to play the games or is that cancelled now?

    lol

No they do not. Everything points that they will be around the same as last year. The hype is coming from that Cuban is very popular on the media. Cuban screwed up big time. He should have gotten Ariza at half the cost of Parsons and used the money savings on getting more help. Dirk took less so Cuban can 'get even' with Morey.

Chandler isn't who he used to be and neither is Dirk

And both will probably be needing rest during the year.

So Mavs getting Parsons makes them a championship team, I see. And the Rockets have two superstars and yet won't make the playoffs. My 6 year old brother would make better predictions than these stupid "so call" experts.

These sports writers are basing their projections on the Rockets offseason narrative instead of what we REALLY lost and what we REALLY have.

For example, sportswriters are looking more at the opportunity cost of losing Parsons's potential versus what we actually got from him last year and what we're going to get from Ariza this year. Ariza is going to give us what we got from Chandler last year plus a net positive for individual and team defense. Parsons might have a higher ceiling, but that doesn't make us worse than last year at SF.

Or, losing our bench C matters, but we only really got a half season from him.

Or, losing our bench PG matters, but we're going to get what we got from Lin's offense in Terry and Canaan.

It just seems like there a lot of buying into the "Rockets had a disaster offseason" narrative versus actually looking at how our roster stacks up against our team last year.

Narrative spin in media is really effective in influencing public opinion. Heck, just look at what the media has done to gamergate.

Parsons is pretty young. It didn't make sense for our team to sign him but it oes not mean other teams should have gotten Ariza instead.

What points to them being the same as last year? Upgrading at SF and C?

Parsons will help make sure Dallas has a good regular season without wearing dirk out. Dirk will be a monster in the playoffs.
Dirk monta parsons and chandler coached by Carlisle is damn good.

I read on here that Parsons is like Scottie Pippen without the defense, and Monte Ellis have it all. So Mavs must be better than Rocket since Howard and Harden are most overrated NBA ever, right?
