Simple question. Why or why not?

Are you freaking kidding? Poor people should not have any avenue to where they would have an easier way of voting.

With a little fine tuning, you could totally do stand up!

If you are as stupid in real life as you are on Clutchfans, you wouldn't have a job either.

If it's to allow folks to vote without interfering with work, isn't there plenty of early voting available to counteract that issue?

I loved when in Argentina, the entire country shut down for election day. The restaurants, bars, stores, everything closed at 11PM the night before. I think it's a great idea.

    Oh, and mandatory voting.

Making it a holiday doesnt fix anything. There are jobs that still require 24/7 staff. A federal holiday wont fix that.

We already have early voting and employers are required to give time off for voting. There is no excuse why one can't vote if they really want to. We dont need to shut down an entire day for something that takes between 10m and an hour.

No. I run a small business in downtown and I don't need our revenues hurt so lazy ass people have one last chance to vote.

People can vote if they want to, with our current setup.

    Online voting.

It is silly you have to go to a polling station.

Tons of opportunity to vote and a holiday only means lazy government employees get the day off.

Forget the federal holiday. The weekend could be a good idea. It might shorten lines.

IMO, the opportunity for early voting in national elections is by far the most important thing. Every state should offer it.

I cannot understand the mindset that would oppose being in favor of something that would make it even slightly easier for their fellow citizens to exercise their right to vote.

The Monday after The Big Game should be a federal holiday

Of course it should be a holiday, in my humble opinion. That will happen about the time Hell freezes over. There are too many powerful people who want to discourage voting, for reasons of their own. Making it a lot easier to vote, which a Federal voting holiday every other year would accomplish, is the last thing they want to see happen.

What better way to celebrate President's Day than to have it on Election Monday, as often as we need it?

I really like that france has the election on sunday.

We should also do that. That way everybody can vote and not worry about work or long lines. There really is no reason not to.

I think the issue with Sunday is that a lot of people go to church on Sunday. I think Saturday would be better. But in reality, another big "religion" in America is football, and elections are in the middle of football season.

I actually wouldn't mind it being a federal holiday, maybe Veterans Day could be moved up?

Can't you vote early on the weekends?
