    According to basketball-reference.com

    Splits Home vs Road: 3Pt%

16/17 season: Rockets at Home 35.6 (or 36%)——-Opponents (in Houston) 34.5 or 35%
17/18 season: Rockets at Home 33.3%—————Opponents (in Houston) 40.1%

So I repeat, if you accommodate to make things easier for Ryan Anderson; you make things easier for opponents.
The opponents outnumber one Ryan Anderson

Can we get a study on how Hurricane Harvey affected season ticket purchases x Astros vs Texans vs Rockets

How clean up and restoration affected attendance x Astros vs Texans vs Rockets

How anthem protests affected attendance x Astros vs Texans vs Rockets

How the end of the Astros season affected attendance at Texans vs Texans (NFL season) affecting Rockets attendance
I’m usually not into the NBA season until the NFL is over. This NBA season started earlier this year.

How are the attendance numbers league wide. Unlike LA or Miami where people are enjoying life outdoors
or at events or activities LA or Miami have to offer.....Houstonians may be getting their lives back in order. Maybe.
    I’m just saying....

I would love to see this! It looks awesome and would hide which date I'm taking to the game each time so I don't get busted. ;)

Not sure how significant those stats are. Do opponents shoot better in Staples/MSG due to the stage lighting?

Just buy the Summit back from Joel Osteen and abandon the TC already.

Not sure that’s relavent. Various variables.

Have the Knicks/Lakers/Clippers been good or consistent at defense?

Maintained the same personnel in the form of players/coaches/schemes?

Do players party like rockstars before games at MSG or Staples center affecting their visual perception, thus
    distorting the stats?

The thread topic is changing Toyota Center to help players depth perception via favorable back ground. Helping Ryan with such condition helps opponents with same said condition.

I'm not sure why in this hypothetical scenario you're making the assumption that all opponents will shoot better with adjusted lighting, but only one Rocket will shoot better. I'm just not seeing how the stats you posted address that issue.

And vice versa. I don’t see how you can’t see adapting the playing field or court for one person also helps other players
the same way. If the rims are tight and some can’t adapt, then loosening up the rims tends to allow everyone to make
    their shots.

If opponents are shooting 40% from 3 vs the Rockets on the Houston court....then making the back ground shooter
friendly helps the opponents go from 40% to greater.
Of course if all variables remain equal on the court. Same level of defense, same scheme, same personnel.

Now keeping opponents from hitting such a high level can be changed with improved defense or adding CP3.

But for someone to say just play better defense is the equivalent of me saying just adapt your shot Ryan Anderson.

The other day I joked about video game power ups. Today I will just say Ryan Anderson is front rimming
his 3-pt shot while at the Toyota Center. Just put a little extra umph to each 3-pt attempt. Man up.

When the Astros played in the Astrodome. They were often accused of turning on the A/C when the
Astros were batting. Supposedly the vents were aimed in a manner that would help carry a baseball
to greater distances than when not turned on.

Now if we could get away with dimming the lights over the seats just at the end of the court where
Ryan Anderson is shooting (while the other end is lit)......go for it !!

    @mfastx

Would you add a poll to this thread?
It seems like a vast majority are in agreement with your lighting idea.

OP's idea was to help Ryno, but many are chiming in about aesthetic and practical reasons to adjust the lighting as well.

@ApacheWarrior it's true that you make things easier for the opponent if you make things easier for Ryno, but you also make it easier for all the other Rockets.

So let's say the opponent increases by 3%. All the Rockets increase by 3%, except Ryno who increases by 6%. Net winner: the Rockets. Add in the fact that we take by far the most 3s of any team, and our advantage is multiplied.

Also, the data you posted contradicts your argument.

16/17 season 3pt%: we had a 0.9% advantage (tiny home court advantage)
17/18 season 3pt%: (so far) we are at a 6.8% disadvantage (huge home court disadvantage)

Those numbers indicate a complete lack of HCA from 3pt shooting %.
