Should the Rockets go ALL IN and trade for Westbrook?

It seems obvious now, but the Thunder had to know their only way out was to trade George. Steven Adams has limited trade value on his near-max contract. Westbrook's supermax, which will pay him $47 million in 2022-23, is a straight up albatross. They may mind-trick some dumb team into taking it at some point, but the Thunder have to assume Westbrook carries negative trade value.

The Thunder may try to flip Westbrook and Adams, and enter a full-on rebuild. Even if they can't, they have already snared a lot of the proceeds of a full-on rebuild. They could even go the other way. They have enough ammo to make a real offer for Bradley Beal -- Billy Donovan coached Beal in college -- and still have extra assets leftover. Their tolerance for luxury tax pain looms large in pursuing any such deals.

Are they changing the rules so you play with two balls at the same time?

Westbrook is a terrible fit in the Rockets offense, and he has proven he is unwilling to change throughout his career. I’ll pass.

Westbrook is a dumb player but OKC does him no favors with their roster construction.

Surround him with shooters and he’d do much better. More spacing —> easier to make reads and penetrate to the hoop

    Rockets already have enough bricklayers.

I wouldn’t mind Westbrook , him and harden would definitely mess up the west and be the best backcourt in the league . Them being good friends I know they would be able to work out eventually. The way the west is right now I don’t see us beating the lakers, or clippers in a 7 game series with the current roster and Chris Paul’s old ass. Might as well have a second star actually in his prime, that can beat his defender off the dribble.

James Harden is literally the only guy in the NBA that could make Westbrook reach his full potential. Perfect backcourt mate for Westbrook that controls the tempo and the ball.

I would pull the trigger on a Paul/Westbrook deal...

If you are trying to win...

Chris Paul’s old ass > Westbrook

Makes perfect sense to tie up $108M of this year's cap space on three guards.

And just think how much fun it'll be in 2021-2022 when it's north of $122M! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

You wouldn’t consider a CP3 for Westbrook swap?

Especially seeing how well Harden/Westbrook shared the floor in their early days?

I want nothing to do with Brickbrook, and why would Presti ever do anything like that to begin with? No one wants CP0’s contract, and what is OKC gonna do with a 34 yo PG making max money for the next 3 seasons?

u will never win anything with him dominating the rock...way too much inefficient chucking and poor decision making

watching him every night would make my eyes bleed

So trading for an all star is a bad idea? Right, so let’s just run it back with an aging, washed up Chris Paul.

Clutchfans: "we need more ball movement in our offense and less isos"

Also clutchfans: "should we trade for Westbrook?"

Rockets need to go all in, but not for Westbrook.

All in for Rob Covington and Aaron Gordon, absolutely.

I agree with the point concerning Sam Presti. Unlikely he would ever work with us.

That said, only one man is dominating the rock in Houston. Having Westbrook as a secondary ball handler would be insane, imo. Perfect role for him. Beard is tailor made to condition Westbrook r****dation.

Westbrook is still a great player. It’s crazy how people’s perception of him has changed so fast.
