Michael Huff and Bay..either one of those could be good options to look at for cheap. Bay is a guy could stretch the field
Most of the free agents are off the board now, so I guess we will be filling our depths through the draft like always
Why don't we trade Tate for a 3th round pick and try to sign Dwyer? Dwyer was tendered with a 6th round pick by the Steelers. I know they can match any offer, but you never know. It would give us another high round pick and maybe an extra WR talent.
a Giants pal of mine floated the idea of a swap of Cush for Cruz in principal (some picks in the 4-7 range would have to be exchanged to shore up the value). I am sure there are holes to poke in the swap, but I see it as mutually beneficial. Cruz is a great YAC receiver, which is a dynamic this offense is missing. And there is plenty of talent to be had in the late first round for SEC Inside LBs. the Giants put a 1st round tender on Cruz, so I am unsure how that plays into the equation. Both players would be in for a payday next offseason.
Cushing is far more valuable to the Texans than Cruz. The Texans defense went south dramatically after Cushing was out... when healthy, he's one of the top 5 LB's in the league.
It's funny every year the bad/desparate teams overpay for FAs in the first few days while the good teams sit tight and wait for value. Yet we always panic when the Texans don't make signings right away. Quin is good but not worth overpaying for.
when healthy you are correct. but he is coming off a major knee injury, and remains a rather large question mark going into the season. I also have much more faith in the FOs ability to draft a replacement ILB that can make an immediate impact than a WR at the same slot.
how'd Cush do last time he came off of a season ending injury? this might come as a shock...but not everyone is Adrian freakin Peterson
So you want to trade Cushing for Cruz? I like Cruz, I really do, but that is a just a ridiculous idea. I mean once Cushing went down last year that's when our defense went downhill. So you want to make our defense average to below average, to try to make our offense better. Sorry but that doesn't help, and both of these players are on their last year of their contracts. And I believe that Cushing would want to stay in houston, not so sure about Cruz.
Are the Ravens bringing back anyone on the defensive side of the ball? They're like a college team with graduating seniors.
lol, It's going to be funny to see all the Ravens fans crying about Joe Flacco's contract when they don't make the playoffs.
Ryans and Cushing both made an immediate impact after being drafted to start at ILB. it's a plug and play position for guys coming out of the right programs in college (i.e, Ogletree and Minter). that is definitely not the case for WR, there is a much steeper learning curve involved. couple that with the fact you are going to have to draft some kind of insurance for Cushing this year regardless...that pick will represent significantly less value considering how often Wade likes to play a single ILB. I just think trading for Cruz represents a greater immediate return for the Texans than the alternative.
