There is a poll going on ESPN.com right now asking this very question so I thought I would chime in on the BBS members and see how they feel. Yes - No
It's always going to fall on a Sunday, so I don't think there is a point. Regardless, it's going to be celebrated like one. I voted no, though.
Sure... ask a bunch of SPORTS FANS if this should be a National Holiday... EDIT: NEVER MIND! 17-7 for NO
You can never go wrong with a national holiday, especially one when someone didnt have to die to get the recognition they deserve.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_holidays_by_country#United_States Most holidays are in rememberance of people or events. Jesus (birth and resurection), MLK, Lincoln, Washington, Columbus, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Memorial and Veterans day. Somehow the Super Bowl doesn't quite fit. If the Super Bowl were a holiday, would we have to buy each other "Happy Super Bowl" teddy bears or something?
I think the 4th of July holiday should be moved to the closest Friday. It's weird having a day off in the middle of the week some years. If it falls on a Thurdsay or a Tuesday, most people take the Monday or Friday off, anyways.
