    I'm all for a larger ROCKETS fan base, but I think it's irritating and harmful to have Player-Only fans ( I know the three-letter acronym doesn't show anymore.)

    With the Artest trade, I'm hoping that our fanbase doesn't begin to follow the current Celtics fan nation. Half of the total NBA fans seemed to have become overnight Celtic fans because of their "Big 3".

    Real Rockets fans have been through the great and horrendous seasons, through health and injuries. This is how it should be...loyalty makes you a fan; not markers of race or ethnicity.

    I think the thread should read, can Yao-Fan's be seen as Rockets fans. The answer is no. You can be of any ethnicity and root for the Rockets, but if your only ties are one player then you are not a fan. That's fine to me, I mean I'm a Grant Hill fan. Does that mean I like the suns, hell no, but I still like Hill.

    anyone can be a fan, just cause they dont know more than you about the history of the team doesnt mean they cant be a fan :rolleyes:

    translation of tinman's point: this is a houston rockets site and you should take some time and learn about the history of this franchise. and if you don't know who hakeem olajuwon is, you should do all of the other fans on this site a favor and learn to appreciate the greatest center that's ever played the game.
