Oh and here's the pool rules on getting his services. Looks like he gets to pick where he plays when the bank arrives. http://www.baseballamerica.com/inte...ll-keep-otani-coming-u-s/#ppPYtuRa5Qm1Zjyr.97
Uhm, questions: Is he eligible before age 25 or not? Are he (and the other JPL/KBL/etc players) treated like the Cubans or not? Does the new CBA affect him in any way or not? On the surface it seems very unfair if there are different rules for different pro leagues.
I am beginning to wonder if Houston has a chance here. Money will not be the determining factor in where he signs. Based on what's out there, the factors are: Opportunity to both hit and pitch. Opportunity to win. Baseball tradition. Close to home. International city. Houston lines up well on all of those. They're in the AL, which means he can DH whenever he doesn't pitch. They're one of the best teams in the league and are built to win long term. They are in the AL West, which means he'll spend a decent amount of time on the west coast, which is as close to home as possible. And Houston is a truly international city, and Luhnow is an international GM. I have seen the Rangers and Mariners in the mix, and that would truly suck to see him go there. I still expect him to be a Yankee, but if he were by some miracle to sign with Houston, their roster would be among the all time best in MLB history (assuming he's as good as reported).
This is probably accurate. Add the Rangers for their connections and the Diamondbacks since the scout with the best relationship with him works for them. But favorites gotta be the Yankees and Dodgers. I think he ends up a Yankee.
This guy is giving a 100 mil to play in the majors? That is kind of insane. If he waits 2 years he probably would have gotten at least 100 mil probably closer to 200 mil. Instead he is going to get 3 million?
