I'm in favor of this, if he is fit and willing to work hard/ play. No risk here. Upside is pretty good.
Stromile managed to keep his head out of his ass long enough to get a fat contract …. Chriss , not so much.
Probably has a better chance of sticking around than Qi or Nanu, both of whom were still on the roster this time one year ago. #babysteps
Davis sucks. Rockets likely have no plans for him. They picked him up so he could be used in *aggregatable salary.* He can be aggregated starting on July 12th. On July 12th the Rockets could have the aggregated salary for trading Chiozza - 1.4M Frazier - 1.4M Davis - 1.6M Nene - 3.8M Hartenstein - 1.4M Clark - 1.4M = 11M in expiring contracts. Rockets have 9 TPEs (including 3.6M and 3.2M values) they can use to accept other players to add to this list.
Why are you so sure he sucks? I agree he's most likely aggregate salary but what makes you so certain Morey doesn't see potential in a 22 year old, athletic center with a 7-3 wingspan with the ability to hit a shot outside of the paint? Seems like a good summer league flyer to me. Hassan Whiteside looked like a complete bust until he wasn't.
yea, I agree, watching his highlights he does look faster than Chriss though. I hope something clicks for him here and we are surprised.
I thought that per the BimaThug/Namaad tweets it was said that the "30 day" counter would start the day after the last Finals game?
I'm no Bima but I believe you're mostly correct but not entirely. I think Morey could sign anyone if the entire intention is to trade him and then be waived. He could have hooked Bobby Brown up again as a solid to Harden. I imagine Morey has tons of data showing Davis could be serviceable with our switch everything defense if a trade doesn't materialize. I consider him like a MCW signing, low risk, potentially high reward. All that said, I completely agree that plan A is to use him as trade chip. I just think there might be a plan B before waiving him.
I thought this was an interesting tidbit on Davis regarding WHEN he could be traded. And how TIMING was very key here.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, then. Does the 30 day counter start the day after that particular team's last playoff game - or does it start after the last playoff game? @BimaThug is in the comments saying he is convinced of what Nahmad is saying. So... I guess I just need some clarification, cuz I could interpret that either way.
