He is not part of the Rockets for now, since he has signed to play for the Vipers.

Anything is possible, unless JJ signs with Houston, he isn't ours. Who knows JJ might change his mind, if the Rockets retain Troy Williams.

    Interesting.

I was thinking Morey felt the Warriors would pick up T Black and didn’t want to help them. Releasing Troy
would be ok since the Warriors have 50 players already on the wing. Then he would release Black
after verbal commitment from either Speights, Frye, or Ilyasova if one gets bought out.

Then the report came out about Troy being waived. Beat writers from almost every team came out and
said they wanted him for their team.

Morey put on the brakes and said to himself the value is too high in young Mr Williams. Can get something
of value for Troy in the form of a trade this summer. Pulled back the reigns.

Or Morey needed Troy for this game tonight badly while playing for RGV. Still might be the one.

It's much more likely that Morey is trying to acquire a player like Tyreke than that he is trying to keep the Warriors from acquiring Williams or Black. Although releasing those guys much closer to March 1 might accomplish both purposes.

It is very wrong not to trade him for a 2nd round pick a few days ago.

Why would Tyreke come here to not get minutes? He is actually playing for a pay day not a championship.

Who would you cut from the Warriors to make room for Tyreke? No roster spot available at the moment.
    Nick Young $5.2 mil
    McGee $2.12 mil
    Casspi $2.11 mil
    Looney $1.5 mil
Damian Jones $1.3 mil, $1.5 mil, $2.3 mil, RFA year

They are currently at about $138 mil payroll

    cont’d from Post #90
    Throw in
McCaw $1.3 mil, then $1.7 mil (Qualifying Offer as RFA)

Greg Monroe got $5 mil for joining Boston. Tyreke deserves more or the same in my opinion.
Exceeding the cap/apron limits what the Warriors can spend.

No one was willing to do that. Ch44 mentioned before the trade deadline that Morey was trying to move Williams and Black.

Daryl thinks he is smarter than anyone in my opinion. This is dangerous for the Rockets.

Signing supposed to happen today. Might need to wait until after the game tonight if nene can’t play the back to back

I can't wait for the board to flip if we don't get Johnson. Every loss will be blamed on not signing a 10th guy in his mid 30s.

Troy Williams is guaranteed 600K next season.
Nanu is guaranteed 1.5M next season.

I think what is likely is Morey is searching for a team that is willing to CLAIM Nanu off waivers so that 1.5M does not go to dead money in the offseason. Perhaps he was willing to let Troy's go dead...but then got word he might be able to get off Nanu's money. That would be the most optimal result.

So, I think Morey is working the phones to get a team that will commit to claiming Nanu off Waivers. Perhaps a young team like Atlanta that has cap room and rosters spots to fill as an example.
