    I think the thinking is:will Troy Williams be claimed if he is waived? Because they don’t want to pay the lux tax. If chinanu is waived. I’m sure Knicks or Nets will claim him. This will allow for them to not pay the lux tax

    Wasn't the point of releasing Troy because he was more likely to get picked up by a team and thus we could use his salary on a buyout candidate. Maybe that person isn't getting bought out now?
