Woj: CP3 is owed so much money & given his advancing age, missing games due to injury, that's a really difficult contract to move even if they decided to do that. You'd have to take back another contract that you didn't love or attach draft picks. They don't want to do that. Harden & CP3, like every other star partnership in this league, will have to figure out how to work through all this. I agree with Daryl, these are two guys who want to win a championship. That's what left for them. This Rockets team, as the Warriors look very different, there's no reason for them to believe they can't compete to win the West & get to the Finals.
Nobody is taking that contract so y'all might as well give up. Lakers ...had they struck out was only real possibility.
At this point this is a thing now. Harden needs to wake the **** up if he ever wants to win a ring. Does he not want to be paired with another all star? All of the issues that CP3 supposedly has been complaining about are legit things. This sucks
Rockets have discussed CP3 trades. Those have gone nowhere. So DM was correct when he said they're not trading CP3, lol.
Lakers will only have around 24 mill in cap space after executing the AD trade., I'm not sure what you are talking about considering Paul will be making 37 million.
Even if the Rockets traded CP3 and took no salary back, they would have roughly 22 million in cap space this offseason. That’s nowhere near enough for Jimmy Butler. It would require dumping Gordon or Capela for nothing, too.
I'm starting to wonder about the 76ers. A few quick notes: 1) Butler does have other options, so its completely realistic to assume he walks for nothing. 2) The 76ers will NOT have many options to replace him. 3) While CP3 is expensive, he is the type of player the 76ers could use. 4) On the Rockets, CP3, Harden & Butler feels like overkill...too many guys that want to go one on one. I don't think this would be a straight up move. The 76ers would want more, and I could see Houston throwing in a few 1st rounders.
I could have sworn I read that If the Davis trade is pushed off for a little while they can get up to 32.5 million in space, making it feasible.
Good post. People talking Lakers and while it sounds like Lebron would want CP3, Lakers have absolutely nothing to give us. Kuzma and garbage. They depleted all their assets a few days ago. Not even their picks, which are looking like mid 20's.
“For the Lakers to sign a max free agent, they would need to wait to complete the trade until July 30, due to salary and trade rules. The Lakers could enter the offseason with $32.5 million in cap space if they delay the completion of the trade. That would allow them to sign a free agent - Kyrie Irving, for example - to a max contract.”
The Lakers will only have that amount if the Davis trade were to be made official on July 30 and Davis waives his $4 million trade kicker. The general consensus is that the deal will be consummated July 6 and Davis is not going to waive his trade kicker. Therefore, the Lakers will have $23.7M in cap space.
