“They’re done with Capela,” one Western Conference executive told CNBC, requesting that his name remain anonymous.

Nobody is allowed to be surprised by this. Tilman has done more than enough already to show what his priority is.

Any trade you guys think up, make sure it has us bringing in less salary, or it won't happen.

Tilman has greenlighted paying the luxury tax, by the way.
Tilman is going all in, by the way.
Us making money saving moves is just coincidence, by the way.
Eat at Saltgrass, by the way.

I could've seen them dumping the 8th, 9th, or 10th guy in the rotation to shave salary just like they did last year. But you don't trade Clint Capela just to save money. You have Harden and Westbrook in their primes and maybe a 2-3 year window at best to contend. If you're not willing to go all in now, then just blow up the roster and start over.

And if Tilman is never intending to spend money in order to win a title, sell the damn team already. Because this nickel and dime sh-t won't get you anywhere when you've got the Lakers, Clippers, and Mavs in your conference all of whom have billionaire owners who aren't afraid to go into luxury tax territory to add talent to their rosters. Hell, even the OKC Thunder spent big last season.

he'd dump whatever money in order to satisfy LTS. dumping the 8-10th player on this team full of guaranteed mins does nothing.

We knew they was shopping him (only player of value available on roster) but clearly they are frustrated by something.

Then he's a terrible owner and needs to unload this franchise. He's reaching Dolan status where his actions are a detriment to the team and their ability to contend. He gave up a first rounder and a valuable trade asset in Knight's contract a year ago to avoid the tax. He brought back a lame duck coach he clearly didn't believe in just to avoid having to pay both his final season and sign a new coach to a multi-year deal. And now he's reportedly looking to dump the team's third best player just to save money when he's got Harden and Westbrook at the tail end of their primes.

Why even own the team if this is how you're gonna run it?

Capela will never be more than where he peaked at. The pieces we get back in return have to be smart, disciplined players... not just good.

Posted in another thread, but here's something I'd be ok with

Houston trades: Capela, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Nene, Sefolosha
    Houston receives: Covington, Bjelica, Holmes

    Kings trade: Bjelica, Holmes, Dedmon
    Kings receive: Capela, Sefolosha

    TWolves trade: Covington
TWolves receive: Dedmon, Nene, 1st round pick (HOU), 2nd round pick (HOU)

    ---------

I don't love losing Capela, but am resigned to it at this point. The Twolves are apparently postering about wanting 2 first round picks for Covington, but that's laughable. He is about as valuable as PJ Tucker, and no one is giving us 2 FRPs for Tucker. They have to take on salary in Dedmon which might then make this a non-starter, but they get a first and second round pick.

Push come to shove, I MIGHT go ahead and add that second round pick, or find some way to get it done... and that's only because I value the fact that we are getting Holmes back, too in this deal. I'd rather move one of Rivers/McLemore/House instead, though. Might have to add House back to Kings anyway.

    ----------

    New starting lineup:
    Russ
    Harden
    Tucker
    Bjelica
    Holmes

    New bench:
    Rivers
    Gordon
    McLemore
House (unless sent in trade, if so, no big deal)
    Covington
    Hartenstein

This is a DEEP team. You can adjust starters vs. bench. Eg. move Covington in as the starting three, Tucker back to the 4, either Holmes or Bjelica at the 5.

people have been saying he's a terrible owner ever since he officially became one and had his 1st crack at team transactions. I didn't just all of a sudden think he turned into one. hes sucked ever since hes been here. from dumb moves to handcuffing one of the best gm's in the world. the rockets future with him absolutely is gonna be garbage

Bogdan and Holmes is his value. Anything less is silly.

Bogdan to LA for Kuzma would be ideal as well.

Could we yank out Bjelica, Holmes AND Bogdanovic? What would that take?
